Who did it best in 1995? The big 3 all released albums that year. You can vote for TWO.
Prince released this:
Widely considered to be his best album of the 90s, including the mammoth hit The Most Beautiful Girl In The World plus the anthem Gold.
MJ released this:
His most personal album to date and a massive hit worldwide outside of the States.
And Madonna released:
This spawned a massive hit with Take A Bow in the States, but it wasn't a massive cultural movement like her earlier albums or her later William Orbit produced work.

That's weird, it's Bedtime Stories' anniversary today!
HIStory is undoubtedly the best album from all 3.
Admittedly I don't know the Gold Experience that much (I used to own the cassette though!).
Bedtime Stories is a lovely album and has 2 of her best songs (Secret & Take A Bow) but there are no stunners amongst the rest, just mostly good tracks (Can't Stop in particular is a great groove, Human Nature & Bedtime Story I like but never really loved).
HIStory though, I mean yes a little filler in D.S & TTA, but for God's sake this album has:
Earth Song, TDCAU Scream Stranger in Moscow
Just thoseetracks alone make it superior, but add:
Little Susie Smile 2 Bad (I know it's not everyone's favourite but those people are wrong) Tabloid Junkie
Plus what he was going through at time of creation. It always amazes me how good this 'comeback' album was.

I've never heard those 2 albums by Prince and Madonna so I'm going with HIStory

I actually think all three of these albums are up there with their respective artists best work. The Gold Experience has some killer material on it, and even if his corny attempts at rapping don't quite sound as badass as you thought it did back in the day, the attitude and spirit of his delivery remains as fresh and funky as it did in 95. Plus you have Billy Jack Bitch, which has one of the greatest horn breakdowns ever committed to tape. Bedtime Stories was Madonna at her sexiest and most criminally underrated. There's a sophistication to the songs on this album, a classiness which has been lacking from her more recent offerings. I love the moodiness and melancholly of songs like Love Tried To Welcome Me, Take A Bow and Forbidden Love. Babyface really shines on this record, and I can't imagine another artist pulling off these songs with as much style and class. Plus Secret is one of her all time greatest singles and coolest music videos. As for HIStory, meh, it's alright I spose.

Take a Bow is easily one of Madonna's best ballads, I adore this song.
But yeah, even if I weren't biased ( I really am) I would probably still go for MJ. I mean, Earth Song TCAU and SIM alone are fucking masterpieces. Enough said
I do enjoy the Prince album though. Bedtime Stories has a few very great songs, but as a full album I'd rather listen to Erotica or American Life

Before she started to deliberately pander to her gay audience, and adopted that ridiculous faux British accent. I swear the real Madonna died in 1999 and was replaced with a bad Shirley Temple impersonator.

The Gold Experience was Prince's last great album, and The Most Beautiful Girl In The World is arguably his last great song. Most of it was recorded in late '92 into early '93, and it was released when Prince was trying to get out of his contract with Warner Bros.
HIStory is a fan favorite, but I've always thought it was a rather strange mishmash of different concepts and styles. Some great songs, though, and I enjoy far more than I do Dangerous - HIStory sounds super modern and kinda cutting edge.

HIStory and Bedtime Stories are both great albums.
Not a fan of Prince, really. To me, he's very much the kind of artist where a good greatest hits will do. I own a copy of Ultimate Prince, and I enjoy a lot of the songs on it, but whenever I've tried delving into the actual albums I realise that I've already heard the best stuff on the greatest hits.

Bedtime stories was 1994. Something to remember was 1995 and only a few new songs (I want you, You'll see).
I chose HIStory and Gold Experience. The former is the better album, I love TGE but it does not have a Stranger in Moscow or Earth Song on it. HIStory has a few naff cuts, but the quality of songs like They Don't Care about us put it way above Pussy Control and We March.
Endorphinmachine and Dolphin are amazing cuts but do not have the catch all appeal of Scream or You are Not alone.
Madonna on the other hand does not come close. Bedtime stories is one of her most boring albums and was part of the decline after Erotica. Human Nature and Take a Bow are the only good tracks.
1. HIStory 2. The Gold Experience . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . distant 3. Bedtime Stories

You really need to hear the Gold Experience as its a very tight album and can convert many a non fan.

Human Nature and Take a Bow are the only good tracks. No love for Secret? In my opinion one of the best songs she ever recorded
