Vote for your favourite Michael Jackson studio albums. I have listed all his Motown and Posthumous ones.
You get 5 choices if you want, but I would appreciate you listing the order of the 5.
I have excluded Greatest Hits Collections and Remixes (Although Michael with its fake Casio tracks and BODF's remixes may barely count for some of you).
I have left off Essential Michael Jackson, King of Pop, Icon, This is it and #1's as they are rehashes, but included Bad25 as it has the unreleased songs like Al Capone on it. Thriller 25 I left off as I decided it was just an abortion rather than an album, same with special editions that may have 1 or 2 new songs/mixes only. Gets too complicated.
Have fun.
My choices are in order.
1. Bad 2. Dangerous 3. Thriller 4. Off The Wall 5. Invincible

1. Thriller 2. Bad 3. Off The Wall 4. Invincible 5. Dangerous 6. Blood On The Dancefloor (would be higher if it was another 5 original songs of the same standard) 7. HIStory
The posthumous albums are a train wreck and I only really know a few selected songs from his Motown solo albums, so it's not fair to judge.

With the non Epic/Sony albums, I knew they would attract few votes, but I knew if I did not, some people may complain, as some of those songs are pretty good and many of us respect it as Michael was very young at the time and you can hear how good his voice and vocal timing are in songs like Rockin Robin, Got to be There, Farewell my Summer Love.
But I am not surprised it is the Off the Wall to History era that is cleaning up and I am pleased to see that Invincible is getting the love too.
Keep those votes coming!

Top 5 would be definitely
HIStory Dangerous Bad Off The Wall Thriller
but I am struggling with the order. I really can't put them in order any more. To me they are equally important and great. It really just depends on my mood.

After 8 sets of votes (Some people are not choosing their full 5) we have
1. Dangerous - 7 votes 2. History - 6 votes 3. Thriller - 5 votes 4 = Off the Wall and Bad , 4 votes each 6. Invincible - 3 votes (So glad to see it getting some love) 7. Blood on the Dancefloor - 1 vote 8. All the Motowns and Posthumous = nuttin.
The poll closes in a month, so get those votes in.

Right now I love all his 90s albums. HIStory, Dangerous and BOTDF but Thriller will always have a special place in my heart because it was the album that made me a fan of his.

I think I've finally settled on HIStory as my #1.
Off The Wall, Thriller, Dangerous and Invincible would complete my top 5.

Well that's opinions. Michael had 6 massive albums that are worthy of legendary status, and it is hard to order them 1 to 6. All have reasons to be top, but bad the least. . Some choose"Off the wall" as it was the album that launched him as an adult superstar.
Others choose "Thriller" as it was his biggest seller, made him a global superstar and had the iconic songs Beat It, Billie Jean and Thriler with their landmark videos at the time.
Some will choose Dangerous as they find it was his perfect peak era where his 80s pop brilliance met the funky R and B sound he enjoyed in the 1990s and the songs like Black or White, Who is it, In the Closet, Heal the world are seen as his very best.
More will choose History as it also had the same powerful 90s sound and again iconic songs like "TDCAU", "Earth song", "Stranger in Moscow" amongst others and it included the greatest moments of the previous 4 albums disc too. Then Invincible will be chosen, as it was his last incredible album and realistic last full release. Despite occasional patchiness, it was loaded with iconic and classic songs like You rock my world, Speechless, Break of Dawn, Whatever Happens and many of us can also see how great his voice is here. . That leaves Bad, which some see as a great album, but apart from the Brilliance of Smooth Criminal, many will see it did not offer anything new. As great as the songs were, it was kind of an updated Thriller with some more mid/late 80s sound of the early 80s sound of Thriller. Even Michael was hard on the album, wanting it to surpass Thriller and stories about him zapping 100 million albums into his head, and recording hundreds of songs for this epic album to be, even though Bad went on to sell well in the mid 8 figures (40 million worldwide, last time I looked) and is pretty much neck and neck with Dangerous as being his biggest seller after Thriller, Michael felt that Bad was a failure, and even some critics did too, as it was not Thriller part 2. Yet 25 million initial global sales and 5 number 1 hits can hardly be called a failure, plus also its momentum went from July 1987 well into late 1989. How many big time albums today keep the momentum up that long. Part of the reason the 1989 Decade album never dropped, was because Epic and even Michael knew, that Bad was still doing the business, as the Tour, Moonwalker Book and Movie along with singles were still making Bad a bigger and bigger project. . Still Bad is going to sail past his Motown stuff, posthumous albums and re releases along with BODF, but when you pit it against the albums either side of it, it is not going to make it. Needless to say, I really love it and actually made it my number 1, but I am probably almost alone there, and it did just edge past Dangerous for me. That album....

Actually, Bad seems to be his most popular album with the general public after Thriller. In fact, in the past few years it has constantly sold better than even Thriller. An album that still sells after 30 years and is still a regular on the Billboard 200 - I wouldn't consider that a "failure".

Dangerous is always #1
After that it gets more hazy.
I tend to put HIStory next as there are so many incredible songs on there but also one or two fillers you don't get on Bad or Thriller
So...
Dangerous HIStory Bad Thriller Off The Wall Xscape Invincible
I don't really know his Motown solo albums and wouldn't count Michael or BOTDF as only 5 songs, so think of it as an EP.
Seems crazy that you'd say Thriller is only his fourth best album doesn't it!?
