Ugh, I love this song so much. It's such a jam! Especially when everyone sings "Naaa na na na na na nana!"
Would be keen to see a version with MJ, Freddie and Mick all on vocals LOL.

Listening to the Hollywood Tonight demo and the "she's only fifteen" part gives me chills every time. I think it's just the timing that it comes in.

Fuck the Estate for cutting that part out and changing the meaning of the song. They think they have to dumb down MJ's message so that people don't create a controversy around those lyrics. I guess their tip-toeing around the controversies in MJ's life has worked out perfectly so far. *Sigh* Instead of shying away from such messages they should have thrown it in people's faces, like MJ did. MJ did sing against child abuse and you don't have to hide that so that people won't make stupid jokes about it because of false allegations against him. SMH.

Can I play devil's advocate and ask genuinely, how do we not know MJ himself later took that line out from a later version of the demo? I'm not saying you're wrong or anything, but it is something I've wondered...
Like I know MJ was never one to shy down from this sort of topic, but on the other hand, they did release DYKWYCA which is even more in-your-face with child abuse... π€

And how do we know it is MJ who took it out?
I see no evidence of MJ taking it out and I have no reason to assume he did, so I am not going to bend out of shape to try to defend the Estate. Maybe they grew some balls by Xscape, although there too they made sure to butcher the song in a way that no one would take its message seriously (or even listen to it).
The Estate has a history of avoiding this topic like plague and also has a history of disrespecting MJ's art enough to temper with it and dumbing it down. Even now, other than that one statement, they virtually did nothing.
The song with this line has a completely different meaning, a much darker one and IMO the Estate just wanted it to be a feel-good song about a girl going to and making it in Hollywood. When the original isn't about that at all. (How much one line can change things!) This is something typical of the Estate, but not typical of MJ. So until proven otherwise I am not going to make assumptions and excuses for the Estate that it was MJ who changed the meaning of the song by taking out that line.

Listening to DSTYGE Nick Disco redux version. He's so good at making mixes and remixes. Stuff the estate be should be doing.

Listened to Jam, In The Closet, SDMW, Remember The Time and Keep The Faith today. SDMW still sucks, but I try to listen to the songs I don't care for from time to time, as very occasionally you find yourself coming around to a song, which I did recently with Don't Walk Away.
I actually did come around SDMW like that several years ago. For a long time I didn't care for it, now I love it.
The only song I don't like on Dangerous is CLHGA. I could never come around that song. LOL.
