The hype of LN is still fading. Once it does completely, I wouldn't want his documentary to reignite it. People are moving on from it and it's a bad idea to poke a hornets nest. Things can only get better. I totally get where you're coming from and I slightly worry about it myself ... but sadly at this point there's just been too many allegations for many people to look past, that they've sadly became ingrained with the legacy of Michael Jackson (ugh).
The hype of LN might fade, but the stigma Michael's legacy faces will not. As such I still believe a really well-done documentary could be quite helpful as it's one easy-to-consume document that we can point people to. Think of all the times we've heard "Have you watched the documentary?" these past 4 months.
Given how bad it has gotten, I'm absolutely all for people discussing the child molestation allegations if it's to clear his name, or bring doubt upon the false accusers. The real question is if Taj is even capable of producing a professional documentary and getting it noticed...
Those who believe MJ to have been a paedophile will continue to do so. Those who don't will continue to do so. Very, very few people will actually change their minds about something which is why it's imperative from a Counter-Propaganda perspective to have put out a documentary earlier. But all indications is that LN is not taken seriously by a majority of people around the world. As evidenced by the dismal TV ratings for it in several countries which absolutely works in our favour. On top of that, Michael Jackson's is still celebrated around the world. As far as I can see, there is no real mute Michael Jackson movement. And his legacy is in very good condition. Number Ones not too long ago spent a record 400 weeks on the UK chart. Sales and streams went up which is significant still. Taj has missed the boat and clearly lost the momentum. Most people aren't interested in LN and more fans are refocusing once again on the reason they're fans in the first place. All he'll do is reopen something that's dying and, inadvertently, give it new life.

Honesty I feel if it's done well it could definitely make a difference. Although I feel Taj isn't up to the task unfortunately.

This! This has been going on for decades and will continue to do so unless it’s addressed with something undeniably factually hard hitting. As a fan of 35 years this has fucked up my fandom completely! And it will keep happening every few years again and again and again! I support Taj! He’s a decent guy and he’s doing what he can! I don’t see the estate or anyone other than a few fans making a difference such as Respect with her website and scripts for the YouTube videos which HAVE made an impact on people and massive difference! I salute anyone who’s doing their best to try to change the narrative.

I salute anyone who’s doing their best to try to change the narrative. On the contrary, the MJ Estate has made a huge and crucial difference in this entire matter. It's the Estate who has been directly fighting the lawsuits brought by Wade Robson, Jimmy Safechuck and Jane Doe. Vital information has come to the fans as a result of the Estate's actions in an extremely important arena - the courtroom. Moreover, the Estate is fighting to get the arbitration regarding HBO heard publicly. The Estate has also given Taj support in his project which has been said. It's nonsense to suggest the Estate hasn't really done much. Nobody can deny this with a straight face. And we are winning the propaganda war. Paltry viewership in various countries, Michael Jackson's music still sells, streams UP and so on. What more can we want? This late in the propaganda war is impossible to change the minds of those who believe the allegations. Taj's project will not be watched by a majority of people across the world in the same way LN hasn't even been watched by a majority of people across the world. That's significant because it suggests people mostly would rather listen to Michael's music.

That's significant because it suggests people mostly would rather listen to Michael's music. Well, they have to be in court I would imagine? Surely the law bounds them to be there? For their client, who’s made them hundreds of millions. They could have funded a documentary easily, secretly even. It took them an age to address it with a half arsed statement. Nobody other than fans are even aware about the court case. I certainly haven’t seen it anywhere other than forums. Nonsense? I disagree. A guy in my job believes MJ to be a pedophile. He may be in the minority but the statistic was irrelevant when it came up in real life for me. I handled him in front of a room of about 20 of us on a training day and shut him up, a few people thanked me which was great, but I’ve been dealing with the minority opinion for 25 years. And always will be if something isn't done sooner or later. Whether a documentary will be watched or not, it’s needed surly to point people to. Respects YouTube collab and RazorFists videos were the tools fans have used. Nothing the estate did or said made any difference. And if it did, they got it from fans. Anyway, that’s me. My two cents. My experience. My truth lol.

Part of me wonders if Taj has missed the boat with this now, especially with the stuff that's come out this week. Unless Taj has a really big bombshell up his sleeve, I can't see his documentary gaining much traction and don't really know if it's really needed at this stage.

A deeper look is needed and has been needed for a long time. Whether Taj is the guy to do it remains to be seen.

Taj recently said that plenty of people have told him that they don't believe wade and James privately. I don't really know how to feel about that as if they aren't saying it publicly they may as well not be saying it at all as far as public perception is concerned. I suppose they are concerned about their careers, or something.

It does kind of feel as if Lies Of Leaving Neverland has pipped Taj's documentary to the post. Unless Taj has something different to offer, I don't see it making much of a splash.

He's completely missed the boat and people are talking about LN less and less. Fact is, the propaganda war is being won well enough without Taj's doco. The Estate are doing their thing on the legal front and the fans have social media covered. On top of that, more and more fans want to get back to discussing Michael's career and celebrating his life.

He has not missed the boat. He's said from the beginning that his documentary will not be just about Leaving Neverland, but the media's coverage of Michael during his life. Documentaries like Chasing The Truth and Lies of Leaving Neverland have a very limited reach and are not as in depth as this subject deserves.

Good to hear from Taj that Jonathan Spence is on board with this.
