I wont lie. I teared up. That. Fucking. Score. Ah man. And the way you have Luke going "The force will be with you", only for Leia to finish the line I get that The Last Jedi turned a good few people off, but not me. There's definitely things I'd change like getting rid of Rose and having Finn and Poe adventuring together instead since I didn't like how they were all split up in TLJ. There's also somethings I'm not entirely sure how I feel about I suppose, but I realize I've only seen 2/3rd of the story so far so I've remained open to it. There's this incredible sense of escapism and adventure the main saga of Star Wars always seems to awaken in me. I was at work when the trailer debuted today and my team stopped what we were doing to watch it. You should've seen the massive grin I had on my face that first time... I couldn't help myself! One of my coworkers did raise the point that because of the backlash to The Last Jedi, Disney might play it really safe(which seems to be what smoothgangsta has brought up), possibly even retcon some things from TLJ. I'm not quite sure what to think of that, but I think that's because it's too vague for me to comment on right now. It seems the idea of who Rey is still open, and if they play their cards right on that I could be quite open to what they bring to that because I'm not entirely convinced just yet we know everything. It all comes down to the execution, and I think I'm just gonna go in with a mix of optimism and realism. No doubt Reddit is gonna have some cool theory discussions in the near future and I'm keen to read those. Someone just pointed out on there that you can see a battle droid behind 3PO in one of the shots:
I was definitely aroused when I saw the battledroid, only to revert to my tears for threepio.

I was definitely aroused when I saw the battledroid, only to revert to my tears for threepio. HAHAH that's quite the contrast! That scene seems to be the same one from the D23 teaser where 3PO's eyes go red, so whatever happens to him must change that. I wonder what causes it...

Very underwhelming trailer. Didn't excite me for the film at all haha. I have found I am not very excited for this film, I will still see it but with Abrams at the helm I really don't see any exciting twist or stuff like that happening, it'll be exactly what I think is going to happen and I'll just be like yup. Could be worse I guess. Could be Johnson. I don't really understand what I'm supposed to take from this response, just seems like argument bait as you know I liked TLJ.

Basically yes I expect them to play it very safe, which I guess worked with TFA and they're just gonna do that again. I hope not but I'm not expecting much. We shall see.

Does anyone else find it odd that they're trying to make the C3PO scene emotional when he doesn't actually know anyone in the room he's calling friends. He knows R2 and Chewie and I think that's it. I suppose he could just be referring to them but he isn't even looking at them lol.

The very first teaser from half a year ago shows that he spends a good amount of time with them in this episode:
Then think back to the D23 teaser from a couple months ago, he's shown with red eyes and the surroundings seem to be the same as where he says goodbye to his "friends" in today's trailer.
So I'm guessing whatever they do to him in that scene changes his eyes to red, meaning what we see in the shots above take place before that scene in the film. Enough for him to consider them friends (and further more, if he's in their service now, it wouldn't be out of reach for 3PO to refer to them as friends).

That does make sense, I saw someone say that they think that when they change his eye colour they wipe his memory or something. Is that ship coming out of the ground or water in the trailer? Also what do you guys think of the rumours that they have like 6 endings for this film and are still trying to decide which to use?

Thoughts on Rogue One, folks? Was skimming through the older posts and saw this.
I enjoyed Rogue One the first time I saw it, but I've enjoyed it less and less on repeats. I'm just not too keen on the first hour anymore, I find the pacing quite off and at times I'm just bored? I never really cared too much for most of the characters. It gets a lot better though once we get into the second half and the action starts to take place - there's a really fantastic space battle there and, as with everyone else, that final scene with Vader was absolutely incredible. Same with the music in that scene! Although I'm not overly fussed on the rest of the score, I read Michael Giacchino only had 4.5 weeks to compose it. So with that context, I think it's fine and serviceable for sure.
I really enjoyed the CGI of Tarkin and Leia from a technical perspective, it's not perfect but it's incredible how far we've come this past decade ago in human CGI - especially when you understand just how incredibly difficult it is. I expected Tarkin somewhat, but not Leia! I remember my jaw just dropping because she looked so life-like to me, it's definitely one of those moments in a cinema you never forget.
When I was rewatching the films leading up to TLJ (chronologically, so prequels first), I actually kinda found it a bit disjointing as you're focusing on the story of the Skywalkers and co. for 3 movies, then suddenly you're spending 2 hours away from all these characters you've been established with. But if you're watching it alone with ANH, it definitely slots in much better. That transition between the Rogue One and A New Hope is perfect.

Due a rewatch soon, will be doing a complete run through. Ill remember this comment and respond properly. I really liked it, loved the different tone and characters. Was I the only person that thought Leia's CGI was great?

Also what do you guys think about the rumours that they have 6 endings for this film and are still trying to decide on which to use? It wouldn't be the first time 3PO has had his memory wiped haha. I had a small theory about what possibly happens when they change his eyes to red. I'm wondering if they basically changing something in his code to make him more aggressive, basically into a battle droid, rather than a protocol droid essentially. There's a few things I've seen that make me wonder this... - Red is an aggressive colour, so thematically that fits.
- He's fought as a battle droid before in Episode II when his body was replaced in the droid factory (and he actually says some pretty aggressive lines there "Die Jedi dogs!")
- People have noticed there's an old battle droid behind him, so maybe they've taken something from that droid (be it an actual part or some code or something) and applied it/put it into 3PO?
- Also because I saw an action figure of 3PO holding Chewie's bowcaster.
My theory however falls apart because that toy does not have red eyes, and nor can I think of why they'd make 3PO into this aggressive battle droid. But I guess that's where the story comes in to give such a reason.
As for the ship, I can't really tell. The preceeding shot of (what I guess) the Emperor's Throne also features lightning, so they must be the same location?
And I haven't heard much about the 6 endings rumour, but it wouldn't surprise me if they did shoot multiple endings given it's the final Skywalker Saga film.

Haven't watched Rogue One in ages. Really enjoyed it when I saw it though.

Was I the only person that thought Leia's CGI was great? Definitely not. I actually went "Holy fuck" the second she turned around. Didn't think I was that loud...
Nope. Turns out I actually exclaimed that a lot louder than I thought, according to my friend afterwards π (I remember a 10 year old boy sitting behind me, whoops). There were lots of gasps in the audience so I wasn't the only one surprised though! It was the midnight screening too. I love those reactions.
