Volume 2 is here tomorrow!
I’ve heard rumours that season 5 will be set in the 90’s. Will be a sad day when the last episode ever airs.

Am I the only one who is bored by ST now? I fell asleep watching it last night so I'm yet to watch the last episode but I've got an increasing feeling that the hype is bigger around this show than the quality. I find the whole thing very needlessly dragged out and the whole Russian plot line is completely needless IMO and feels just like a way to engage those actors somehow. (Although I'm sure the last episode will somehow connect it to the rest of the plot.)
If you truly want a masterclass in television, watch Dark! Now that series is a real masterpiece! I guess the only reason it doesn't receive half the hype of ST is because it's a foreign show (German). When I watched it first the first few episodes superficially felt a bit like a ST knock off that's more European and more serious and thus darker (kid disappears from a small town, there's a strange and menacing nuclear power plant near the town that apparently has something to do with the disappearance etc), but after you get over those first parts and the superficial initial similarities, you realize it's so much superior to ST! To me Dark is the best Netflix series so far (followed by The Hunting of Hill House). I love myself an 80s nostalgia as anyone, but I don't find the plots in ST that impressive or that well thought out as a story, to be honest. Dark, on the other hand. Wow! You need to watch all three seasons to grasp it and you may have to watch it several times to fully grasp it. LOL. But it's very, very well thought out as far as time travel plots go.

My friend and I just binged the last two episodes and it was a very quick 4 hours for us. So definitely long, but I guess we're invested so both volumes went fast.

If you're looking for a great show to watch however, I simply cannot recommend For All Mankind on Apple TV+ enough. It's legitimately one of my most favourite shows on television right now. It tells the story of an alternative history where in 1969, it was actually the Soviets who reached the Moon first, not the USA, and all the fallout from that. In this timeline, both countries keep up their space exploration programs after too, so in Season 3 (which is airing now) we're now on the way to exploring Mars in the 1990s. I really love seeing how America and Russia keep trying to out-do each other, or when they have to work together up in Space in desperate situations, or even when there is tension between the two countries up on the moon. The storylines make for some utterly fantastic television. It's also really cool seeing how this alternative timeline differs from our own. Season 1 is set in the 60s/70s, and Season 2/3 are in the 80s and 90s respectively. The last two seasons start with these fascinating recaps of whats happened in this world since the last season. Cultural and political events are different in this timeline, some famous people survive their assassination attempts, others don't. Michael's appearance at the White House briefly features in Seasons 2 recap too. Technology is more advanced in this alternative universe as well, thanks to all the money going into research and development for all the technological advancements required. So for example, you'll have people doing colour video calls in the 1980s, or an early 2000s iPod briefly appears in a scene that takes place in 1994. It's really cool, but also grounded so you don't lose any disbelief. They don't have flying cars is what I'm saying 😂
Fantastic CGI too. Season 2 features the characters interacting with President Reagan over video call. Not only have they brought in a very good Reagan voice actor, but they use CGI to manipulate footage of Reagan so that it legitimately looks and sounds like 1980s Ronald Reagan is talking to these characters. It's so seamless! Sadly it's not a show that's got too much attention, though I put it down to being on Apple's service instead of Netflix or Disney. Apple generally offer the first few episodes of a show for free to non-subscribers too, so anyone can check it out.

I've found this series of ST to be the best yet, well since the first anyway.
I genuinely wasn't going to bother but so glad I did.
The development of most of the characters has been great. Although the addition of the new hippy stoner friend seems unnecessary and I think the Scooby Do style camper crew has been under developed. I feel a bit for those guys as they've been underused this series (although this may change in last episode).
Also, it's fucking scary this season!
Also, started Pieces of Her on Netflix now. Another Toni Collette drama. Excellent first episode.

There was a great series called Unbelievable, I'm not sure if it's still on Netflix - but it's well worth a watch.

Just finished Episodes 8 and 9 and all I can say is wow! Stranger Things 4 is an absolute masterclass in television. Same! Watched Episodes 8 and 9 late last night and was enthralled. I’m afraid to talk about it without giving away spoilers but was gutted for poor Dustin. I’ll say no more as I’m trying to not give anything away but it’s so damn hard.😭 Phenomenal. This season has been far and away the best of the lot and I’ve loved the new characters in it also. Between season 4’s volumes 1 and 2 I’ve rewatched season 1 which confused the hell out of me.😂 But I can’t get enough of this show as It brings me back so much to the 80’s.🤩

Eddie is pretty much my older brother in the 80’s and early 90’s until he cut his hair. The entire thing as a homage to that golden era. Love Toni Collette also. We started Pieces of Her about 2 weeks ago but haven’t had the time to continue with it so we’ll get that done.

I finished the last part of Stranger Things now. I still wasn't as impressed with it as many people seem to be. I tried to point a finger at the reason why I didn't like it and here are some things that annoyed me: I found too many of the dialogues cringe and cliche. Way too much focus on romantic relationships. I found this whole story around Vecna messy and way too superficial. Too dragged out. Also, Mike and Will are totally boring and needles characters now IMO. Maybe there are too many characters crammed into this by now, so some now feel like they can't really do anything with them to keep them interesting. As I said above already the Russian part of the story felt to me as an excuse to someone try to engage those characters (Hopper, Joyce etc) in this season. To me it felt forced, not an organic part of the story.

I enjoyed it. Would have enjoyed it more without SPOILERS on here though!!!
I agree the Russian bit, although enjoyable, seemed like they needed something for Winona to do. And I felt sorry for the Camper Van crew as they felt like B characters.
But on the whole, great series, best since the original.
