Ha! I love the controversy this has caused. You have to love Invincible for that For me it would be Off The Wall. As much as love it, it definitely couldn't be Dangerous, Bad or HIStory as they contain his best work. Thriller has WBSS, PYT, Lady In My Life. Not to mention the obvious ones. I'd miss WDAN, BTDO and SOOML et al but I could live without them. I'd choose keeping Dangerous or HIStory over my left bollock. Okay, would it still be OTW if you included Invincible into the mix?? Fucking Hell, are you implying Invincible is better than Off The Wall? What am I saying, of course you are. Of course I wouldn't, what with me being normal and everything.

If we are only talking from OTW to BOTDF, that's a pretty limited selection. I think all of Michael's albums since OTW are important, including Invincible, and I wouldn't get rid of any of them. Fans give Invincible a hard time because it's not the ultimate 'Michael Jackson standard' (*eye roll*) but it kicks the ass of most of the music that was released at that time.
I'd probably toss out one of the earlier solo albums...like Ben. Does this count? lol

Well, if we can't pick Invincible then BOTDF because it has the least new songs. I couldn't get rid of any other of the albums.

Yeah I do feel for little Vincy. I really, really like the album. I play it a lot. It isn't perfect, but only when compared to his other albums (OTW-History). Other artists would be glad if they had an album like Invincible. Songs like Unbreakable,Speechless, Threatened and Whatever Happens are little masterpieces imo. But Invincible didn't have a tour or great music videos, so it wouldn't be that hard for me to remove that album, although I would miss it a lot

I would have picked BOTDF - IF it wasn't for Ghosts. I adore Ghosts..

Are we allowed to remove some of his early solo studio albums? That would be a lot easier (Ben, Got to be there...)

Since you said BODF, I choose that. I would lose 3 excellent songs and 2 okay songs (Superfly Sister and BODF are only okay next to Morphine/Ghosts is it Scary).
I can't stand to lose any of the others, as all would have songs that were just too good to be lost, but it would be history, because there are some real low lights on that album like Childhood, This Time around, DS and Money which are really just fillers.
OTW to Dangerous are all too important for any loss.

Poor sad down and out little Vincy gets a pass! Poor misunderstood just-wants-to-be-loved little Vincy gets a suspended sentence -time already served! I would lose Blood On The Dancfloor. No way on earth would I lose Off The Wall. Just as a listening experience alone it's perfection. Take away the videos -they weren't mind blowing short films at this point anyway. Take away the tour -will we ever even see a Triumph tour?- Just as an album it's superb. I love Ghosts as much as the next fan but OTW to HIStory is a perfect run that I couldn't break.

I didn't realise BOTDF was an option. Of course I'd lose that over Off The Wall. I'm sorry Wall.

I'd go with BOTDF for the obvious reason. If we ignore BOTDF too, it's an almost impossible choice, but I'd go with HIStory. It's a great record, unique in MJ's discography, and his most personal, but I am less attached to it than to the other 4 albums.

Don't forget, it's not just albums, but eras we're debating here. I don't think it's such an easy decision when you factor in the possibility of losing the Ghosts shortfilm if you pick BOTD. Ghosts is one of the best things he ever did, PERIOD.
For that reason and the strength of the 5 new tracks, I would actually seriously consider losing OTW over BOTD, certainly in terms of an era, even though I absolutely adore OTW.
But in reality, I could easily live without Girlfriend, It's The Falling In Love, She's Out Of My Life and even Rock With You. So when faced with brass tactics, it boils down to: DSTYGE, Working Day & Night, Get On The Floor, OTW, I Can't Help It, Burn This Disco Out Vs. BOTD, Morphine, Superfly Sister, Ghosts, Is It Scary, BOTD music video and Ghosts shortfilm.
When you put it like that, OTW seems the obvious choice, as a world without Ghosts and Morphine is not a world I want to live in. And the other albums/eras are not even worth considering as possibilities.

But if you're going to make it about eras, that would also mean you're sacrificing the Triumph album and tour, The Jacksons' Live album and the OTW leg of the Destiny tour.
I'd offer up Ghosts and Morphine in a heartbeat, as great as those two are.

How do you work that one out? Triumph is a whole separate album... I always got the impression fans talk about OTW and Triumph as belonging to the same era. The same goes for Victory (the tour and the album) - it's part of the Thriller era. I see them that way too - Triumph and Victory were more like side projects for MJ at the time.
