Leaving Neverland no where to be seen on the BAFTA nominations list. I'm absolutely gobsmacked, I thought it was a shoe-in, honestly. Especially given the below

Yes, it didn’t make the final cut for the NTA 2020 award nominations as I originally feared it would.
Sadly, it just “won” “Outstanding Achievement in Nonfiction Film for Broadcast” at this year’s Cinema Eye Honors awards. This comes as no surprise seeing as how HBO appears to be among the main sponsors on their website. Let’s hope by some stretch that it does not make the nominations for the TV BAFTAs.

Ive never heard of the Cinema Eye awards but I saw loads of tweets sharing that it won by responding to it 😂 I honestly thought the BAFTA was bought and paid for. In my head, it getting the BAFTA was going to be its last day out. I had forgotten about the NTAs. I honestly dont see how anyone could believe LN won an Emmy legitimately. Bye LN.

Karma might just be real. I also just want to add that I'm still gobsmacked that LN wasn't nominated for a BAFTA. This is the proof I need that HBO bought all the awards they sponsored. LN had BAFTA written all over it. A British production that made world news? Absolutely brilliant.

Have to say, for now at least, LN is over. His music is back on radio and other places.
I don't think it's fully back and he's slightly more tarnished but on the whole it's had little impact.

I was in London last weekend for The Bowie Celebration gig that I go to every year, and we always go to that late bar on the corner of the street where Shepherds Bush is. Now, I was very drunk, and it didn't take me long to go up to the DJ and ask for Billie Jean (so I could dance...) I was quite taken aback with the response "I am NOT playing that one! I am NOT playing that" and just as I was about to go "oh for fuck sake" he said "I'm playing Rock With You* in a few minutes, not Billie Jean". I was happy I didn't have to go down the "Ah for fuck sake man" route, but I did continually badger him to play Billie Jean. Billie Jean comes on a while after RWY. A circle in the pub gathered around me as I did the choreography. Others joined in too trying to do the same. No bullshit. Just Jackson. I'm still only remembering bits of it as I type this. I was so drunk. But everyone set the floor on fire for Billie Jean. * I'm not even sure if it was Rock With You. It could have been Dont Stop.

I know this "Bowie was accused too"/"Jagger was accused too"/"XY was accused too" thing makes us uncomfortable. It makes me uncomfortable too, because they are just as much entitled to the presumption of innocence as MJ is. But the point isn't that they are definitely guilty. The point is that if woke hipsters are going to call for the complete humiliation (graphic, 4 hours "documentaries" etc) and cancellation of MJ based on mere allegations, what makes these white rock stars exempt from the same treatment? OK, so now we have a Daily Mail article about Jagger. But will we have his version of LN or a Surviving Mick Jagger sponsored by big TV channels such as HBO? I doubt it.
Also, a lot of those blue ticks trash talking MJ during the LN saga and calling to cancel him, when you search for their timelines a lot of them are fans of Bowie, the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin etc and the irony doesn't occur to them. In fact, back in the 60s-70s it was so common that these white rock stars slept with underage groupies that they probably should cancel at least half their record library by their own standards.
And BTW

I'm not surprised at all by this double standard. Something similar happened a few years ago when the accusations against Woody Allen came up in the media again. Some of the same people that shit on Michael were eager to defend Allen: vindicatemj.wordpress.com/2014/02/13/woody-allen-vs-michael-jackson-is-there-a-way-to-learn-the-truth/BTW, seeing Kew Media fail is quite satisfying.

I was watching the new Michael Barrymore documentary on Channel 4 catch up and was pissed off to see them still plugging Leaving Neverland on the commercial breaks a total of THREE times throughout. Why are they still pushing this programme almost a year on from its original broadcast??
