Episode 16 is out, which features our first ever interview. We spoke to a Canadian artist named Oceanship who did NOT hold back with his thoughts on artists rights. We were also given a track from his forthcoming album so we could play a couple of clips of it. Wow this latest episode is getting a lot of traction due to Oceanships radical thoughts on the ethics of being a music fan. Sounds really interesting. I'm gonna check it out.

Cool, let me know what you think. So far reactions has swung way both ways. Either people totally agree with him or they absolutely do not lol

I'm half an hour into the interview with Brad Lyons and I don't think I can take any more of him. An absolute misery guts, and pretty pretentious so far. Does he lighten up at all!? I get what he's saying but he just comes across as a dickhead here.... Also russtcb Russ, if you speed up the first clip of his by 1.5x it totally sounds like a Noel Gallagher tune! I obviously didn't want to write this on the FB page cos.... we're all friends here, right?. .. You guys doing AOK though!

Michelle and I kept giving each other side eyes and looks in the video chat while he was talking haha. I managed to get a few chuckles out of him, but his mood doesn't lighten up overall, no haha. It's funny....I'm friends with a guitarist who's fairly well known and he sent me like 6 texts about Brad's attitude after he listened to this episode lol.

Like, I completely understand his point of view, but his way of thinking would have made more sense if this was 2004 and people weren't only downloading artists songs illegally, they were more likely to torrent the entire discography! His opinion on what was "music"? Oh man he was so condescending. Yeah he's just completely rubbed me up the wrong way. His attitude is in COMPLETE contrast to the feel good/loose/chilled vibe of the show, which I imagine is a lot of the appeal for others like myself. I was listening while out on my run and he annoyed me so much, that I stopped to post the above from the side of a dual carriageway!!!

I've reached out to some other folks for interviews and I think they might fit the show well. Hopefully I hear back, but it's tough while the show is getting off the ground. I'll keep my nose to the grindstone though!

This demonstrates well what was discussed on a previous show about copyright issues. So Taj Jackson had a live stream yesterday where he discussed some of MJ's favorite songs. To demonstrate them he played them through Alexa as he was sitting there. He didn't even play them in full, but today the full stream was taken down because of a copyright claim. It's just completely ridiculous. Who is not going to buy a song just because Taj played it half during a live stream? If anything, he is advertising them. He is not making any money of these streams either. And on top of that in the streaming era anyone can go to Spotify and listen to them for free, anyway. I know it is probably an algorhitm, but something needs to be changed with this because it is completely ridiculous. Meanwhile Dan Reed can use MJ's music in "documentary" that's trashing him, under the excuse of "fair use".

It's just insane to me that the labels openly handcuff their best sales people (the fans) from helping sell music As a side note, our latest bonus / tournament episode is out now. I also created this link so it's easier to find the show everywhere linktr.ee/Infectiousgroovepodcast

ETA: It's Soft and Wet by Prince, and She's Leaving Home by The Beatles that they muted in it. LOL.

OH! Here's something cool I forgot to mention: There's a really cool YouTube channel called Channel 33rpm that's all about vinyl, etc. They do a series called "Vinyl Dens" where they feature cool music set ups. They going to feature my place (33 1/3 Music Appreciation Center) on their video this Sunday and they're also going to promote the podcast which is very nice of them. I'll post the link here when the video goes up

And yes, these are real 45s. Someone gave my wife boxes and boxes of them once but they were all way too beat up to ever consider playing. We didn't have any idea what to do with them, then she came up with the idea of putting them on the wall. She put every single one of those 45s up!
