Russ, you're one of the few people who articulated the whole issue between Warner Bros. and Prince. BRAVO

During our latest episode about duets, we got into the debate over what is a "duet" and what is a track "featuring" another artist. Available on all major podcast platforms or via link below: t.co/TzO87bRgVat.co/t2rQotQ3XC

Harder than it looks. MJ is best ever solo but as a front man, I'd argue Freddie was better.

So when you put MJ in this poll, you specifically meant him with the J5 and Jacksons, not as a solo artist?

So when you put MJ in this poll, you specifically meant him with the J5 and Jacksons, not as a solo artist? Ok, so here's what happened...lol: Personally, I was thinking of him from the Bad Tour on as "a front man". My reasoning is that I also consider Elvis to be a front man too. Elvis had the same members of his backing band from 1969 until 1977. Elvis also had a ton to do with song arrangement, setlists and overall direction of the show. That sounds like a frontman to me, so that's why I've always considered Elvis to be one. All of those things apply to Michael from the Bad Tour on, so that was my personal justification for counting him as a frontman during that era. I honestly had not one clue that it was going to erupt into the debate that it's become. I certainly planned to bring it up when we record the episode, but I didn't know it was going to be such a big debate otherwise.

I'd never call a solo artist a front man. It's funny as I never considered him as a frontman before even in the J5 even though he obviously was the lead (& the singer which is usually deemed to be the frontman). I think it's because (even though a couple did play instruments) I don't consider Jacksons to be a band in the sense of GnR, Killers, Aerosmith etc. I consider the band format of drummer, instrumentalists & then the singer being the frontman. If any of that makes sense?! Anyway, best frontmen to me also include Liam Gallagher, Brett Anderson with a nod to Brandon Flowers (I suppose it makes sense that your favourite frontman would likely align to your favourite band).

I'm quickly finding out that the community is VERY divided on whether or not he should be considered a frontman in any era lol. For the reasons I mentioned above, I've always considered Elvis to be a frontman, so I figured "why not Michael too"? Having said that, I agree on Liam for sure and I think Brandon deserves a mention.

Our latest is out. What counts as a "front person" was a pretty hot debate!
