How am I supposed to choose. He was the king of music videos! I mean I even appreciate videos like Cry and She's Out of My life even if they aren't really spectacular. The only video I don't quite like is Liberian Girl. I love the song so much and I like the idea of the video but the song deserved better. Yeah, Liberian Girl does suck (the music video, not the MyMJJForum member, who, for the record, is delightful). It's just basically showing off how many famous people MJ could get to appear in a music video. It's a bit of a superficial concept and the song deserved better. And of course, it isn't helped by the fact that 3/4 of the people in the video are complete non-entities now. But this is a thread about his best videos, not his worst, so alas, I shall stop derailing the thread with my inane ramblings.

I liked the idea that they were waiting impatiently for MJ to show up and tell them what to do and that they didn't know they were actually in a music video. But it really feels like a "look who's in my new music video!" type of thing. And they are talking over the song, always breaks my heart

I think Black or White is a really great music video too. I love the panter dance. I wish we could see the outtakes for that one, MJ was driving John Landis crazy behind the scenes lol

It always scared the crap out of me as a kid, but I'm still gonna nominate "Thriller" just because there was nothing else like it at the time. He had so many other great ones as well, like "Remember The Time," "Black Or White," "Smooth Criminal." I can now say that I'm fortunate enough to remember Michael's '90s short-films, as he preferred to call them, premiering for the very first time. It was always an event. Heck, I can still remember seeing the "Bad" video premiering back in '87 and several years later, still recalling the "Who's Bad?" part at the end, lol.

Surprised no-one has mentioned Ghosts in this thread. To me, that's the best music video he ever did.

The only video I don't quite like is Liberian Girl. I love the song so much and I like the idea of the video but the song deserved better. Agree completely. So many iconic and fantastic videos that it is difficult to choose. Smooth Criminal Beat It Leave Me Alone Ghosts Scream Who Is It TDCAU (esp. prison version) In The Closet The Way You Make Me Feel Bad Dirty Diana Remember The Time Black or White (esp. the Panther Dance section) Jam Thriller (I almost forgot, LOL) Earth Song Stranger in Moscow Frankly, his career was an endless stream of classic and iconic videos. A release of an MJ video was always an event in itself. You could expect him to come up with something exciting, interesting and grand every time. He is definitely the king of music videos. I don't know anyone else with such a consistent stream of iconic videos over such a long period of time. When you think about it so many of his videos has either iconic choreography and/or iconic filmography/iconography and/or an iconic storyline. He was just unbeatable at this.

Yeah, sometimes I beg to be unemployed just so I could sit & watch Vision every day of the week.
Smooth Criminal & Thriller still fully blow my mind.
Jam, though, I feel is totally unappreciated. So funky, aesthetically beautiful showcasing a lovely, happy seemingly carefree Mike. I also love the unstructured choreography compared to the more formulaic routines of RTT, Dangerous, Thriller etc.
WYBT - I think is perfect, a mix of two wonderful performances with stunning choreography. Like I've said before the choreography is like someone played the song through a super computer that created a perfect visual representation of it.
In The Closet, does the same as Thriller for me. i.e. elevates the song to a completely new level. MJ's sexiest by far. The sepia toning is beautiful. Herb Ritts was just a master of beauty (check out his work with Madonna for extra proof, he directed Cherish for example).

He did both a coloured version & a B&W version if it too. Think I prefer the B&W one.
I saw this video was her transition between the sharp, black funk from RN1814 and the sepia toned sexiness of 'janet'.
