www.reddit.com/r/Broadway/comments/rb5vh3/my_mj_the_musical_thoughts/I believe the main post has already been posted here, but there is a small amount of discussion in the comments. Couple of comments about the allegations, some about the story, some about song choices and all that.
While I'll still read them, I'm more interested in discussions from the general public than I am from the media. Judging from MJ fans initial reactions, I know they'll love it so I expect good reviews from them, whereas the media will always find ways to try and cram in the allegations (as seen above with the NYT). I think the general public will be far more varied in that sort-of-thing so you'll have a better cast of opinions I think.
LOL. This is silly. I'm glad they aren't pulling a Flex Alexander in this show. I consider it a plus, not a minus that such lesser known songs are featured. Especially because there are some real gems among them.

The media are just fecked that their 2019 plan didnt work. The best they can do in attacking any release with mjs name on or connected to him is to bring up the "allegations" as if no one as ever heard of them before! That's the best they have and still fail to realise after all these years people either dont believe their agenda ridden B.S or frankly dont care.

I was at the show on the 6th and WOW, the line was LONG.
People loved it. Don’t let the stupid articles make you think different. The crowd was really enjoying the performance.
It’s not perfect and has some noticeable issues but overall, if you guys can go to NYC to see it, you should

and later the musical’s name was changed, from a potentially problematic “Don’t Stop ’Til You Get Enough” to the simpler “MJ.” Oh come the f on. ""Potentially problematic"" 🙄 On one hand, I can see how some songs (MJ and non-MJ) from way back then can be interpreted in a negative way now, and people are free to interpret things however they wish... but labeling DSTYGE as problematic is blowing shit out of proportion. Anyway, I'm glad to see the show being received mostly positively so far!

A few more pages of discussion have been added to this thread since this was posted, in case you haven’t seen. Very good detailed review I’m making my way through on P3 right now, but there are also many other discussions/opinions related to the allegations in the thread as well. Seems they seriously hit the jackpot with Myles Frost. Nothing short of universal acclaim for his performance as MJ.

If word gets out me thinks a certain comment section is gonna be bombarded with links to Square One.

If Lynn Nottage and her team did a good work researching Michael presenting his artistic genius and humanizing the man, maybe, JUST MAYBE she could've change her mind of what she thought of him in 2019 or it's wishful thinking on my part based on that guy's review respect posted above who felt compelled to research more about his life once the musical made the guy to see MJ as a human being.
I'm here for works that honor, respect his artistic legacy and humanize Michael Jackson and maybe this musical compounds all those things I mentioned. For that I'd be willing to support the musical if I ever have the chance to go to Broadway.

I think one of the reasons why people are bringing up the fake allegations is because one people thinking it's gonna take over his whole life.
while this is 1992 before any of that some people feel they got rip off.
number 2 Lynn Nottage and Christopher Wheeldon already believes he guilty so people thinking it will also talk about that too.

Also like i said earlier in this thread. Michael just have haters just like the rest of us.
i feel fans should just ignore haters, trolls, and people who believes he's guilty.
not only that some fans need to calm down on their behavior. yes michael is innocent but that doesn't give MJ fans the right to act Very hateful to non fans.
that's make us look bad then we already do and i agree some people in this fandom is one the reasons why i don't talk to many or active in somethings.
some fans are delusional.

it's nice to see people opinions who like the show. even though it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth who doing the show.
i'm one those people who stills needs more details and info.
i guess we will get more of that once the show really starts next year with some changes. Cause it need them.
