A statement issued on behalf of Martin Bashir said: “The ITV documentary team spent more than eight months filming with Michael Jackson. He signed two contracts to allow for filming and broadcast and Martin Bashir was always accompanied by a production team and crew. “Following the documentary Mr Jackson was charged by the relevant authorities in the United States in relation to allegations concerning a teenage boy. It was the second time Michael Jackson had faced smilar allegations in his lifetime. He was tried and eventually cleared by a court in California. “Martin Bashir gave no evidence against him because, apart from a very few minutes of the documentary that featured Mr Jackson talking on camera – very willingly – about sleeping in bed with a child, the film did not contain any allegations of wrongdoing. To suggest the TV programme led to his death, over which his personal physician was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter, is untrue.” This statement really pisses me off. I see they are (unsurprisingly) continuing to take no accountability. It makes me want an official investigation all the more. What a stupid fucking statement. Nobody is suggesting the documentary directly led to his death, we are saying it set in motion a series of events which unravelled his life which he never fully bounced back from. It is highly doubtful that the ludicrous 2005 trial would've happened at all without the Bashir documentary, which took a huge toll on MJ's physical and mental health and ran him into debt. The pressure of this is what led him to agree to such a mammouth live comeback in 2009 and we all know what happened next. To say that the sensationalistic and exploitative manner in which Bashir deliberately portrayed MJ in his documentary didn't negatively effect Michael's life and wellbeing considerably is very disingenuous. I hope the fans and the family continue to kick up a stink about this as that statement shows that they just don't get it.

What a limp dick of a statement that doesn't answer any accountability for the actual true issues raised. It's time mj had some fucking justice, which he never will, because hes dead, but he deserves a posthumous bit of justice at the very least.

The Diana interview did not directly kill Diana either, yet Prince William also talked about how he believes it contributed to events that led to her death. It is in the same way how the Bashir interview lead to MJ's death.
"Mr Jackson talking on camera – very willingly – about sleeping in bed with a child"
They can't help but throw shade. And it is not true. MJ did not talk about sleeping in bed with Gavin. He said Gavin slept on the bed and he slept on the floor. So even in this statement they lie.
"the film did not contain any allegations of wrongdoing"
Just malicious, suggestive narration...
And what are they saying about the forged signature?

It's amazing how they still twist the "sharing the bed" thing all these years later. We know they purposely manipulated that footage. Why the hell do they continue to play dumb? I remember seeing something about him forging signatures when looking through 2005 trial stuff years ago. It's crazy that nothing ever come of that back then... but maybe now something will happen?

If Piers Morgan had done the interview instead of that talking head who replaced him, I bet he'd have let Taj speak or at least playing the devil's advocate as he did when egghead was interviewed destroying him in the process.
I think Taj lost the chance to point out Bashit forged MJ's signature which didn't allow MJ to intervene in the final edit of that mockumentary to emphasize how deceitful and fraudulent Bashit's methods were.

This is shocking and I have never seen or heard of this before. It certainly looks like a forgery but is there any concrete proof of it? I'm surprised this hasn't been more widely reported. Given his penchant for frauding documents and the shabby looking signature which looks nothing at all like MJs penmanship, I would say there's a zero percent chance that document on the right is really MJs handwriting.

I didn't remember Michael sued Granada Media and won a partial injunction to prevent Granada airing outtakes or releasing the mockumentary in dv5.

I don't know if online petitions ever actually amount to anything, but it's worth a shot:

Terry Venables is the latest to want an enquiry into a programme Bashir did on him in 1993 regarding his ownership of Tottenham Hotspur with Alan Sugar.
Venables claimed Bashir forged a document with false details whereas the BBC argued that, while it was a mocked up document, the details within were entirely correct.
Venables did sue the BBC years ago, but settled it with both sides paying their own legal fees.
But he hopes a public enquiry will help him all these years later.
I can't see an enquiry into the MJ/Bashir interview taking place because that was ITV/Granada. It'd be very different if it had been a BBC production.
The main reason why the BBC/Bashir scandal is gathering pace is because the British public fund the BBC and it's meant to be trustworthy as well as impartial. Before this, a record number of people hadn't paid the licence fee and I haven't for 3/4 years.
More and more people resent the increases. And want the licence fee abolished.
So, this has bigger implications than ITV would which isn't funded by the British public.
This would be the biggest reason for no enquiry into LWMJ taking place. And not racism.

MICHAEL JACKSON Family Claims Martin Bashir Tricked MJ ...ALLEGES DOCUMENTARY CAUSED HIS DEATH Michael Jackson's family -- or at least some of them -- are outraged by the revelations about the BBC's Martin Bashir interview with Princess Diana, and they're reportedly considering legal action. In case you don't remember, Bashir did a documentary in 2003 titled "Living with Michael Jackson." It profiled MJ's life at the Neverland Ranch. During the interview, Bashir lasered in on Jackson's relationship with young boys and the allegations of sexual abuse. Jackson was unapologetic about sleeping in the same bed as 13-year-old Gavin Arvizo, saying, "Why can't you share your bed? That's the most loving thing to do, to share your bed with someone." As you know, Jackson was prosecuted for allegedly molesting Arvizo. The jury found MJ not guilty. In the wake of the report concluding Bashir deceived Princess Diana into doing her famous interview, Jackson's nephew, Taj, and MJ's brother, Tito, now allege Bashir "manipulated footage and unethical journalism." The pair believe Bashir tricked Jackson the way he tricked Diana. Taj blames Bashir on Michael's death, saying, "Bashir's manipulated footage and unethically journalism is one of the main reasons my uncle Michael is not here today." Taj wasn't done, adding, "That 2005 trial broke him. Shame on those who provided cover for Bashir. Shame on those who rewarded him. My family deserves an investigation & apology too." Jackson's former bodyguard, Matt Fiddes, told the Mirror the Jackson family is considering taking legal action. www.tmz.com/2021/05/23/michael-jackson-family-martin-bashir-neverland-ranch-2003-documentary-legal-action/

I don't know why now, but this whole thing has really got to me. It's not like I haven't known for years about what a snake Bashir was, but with the Diana debacle shining a light on the sheer extent of his deceptive nature, I can't help but feel angry that MJ was ever allowed to be introduced to this slimeball. It is somewhat satisfying seeing Bashir now referred to as "disgraced" in the media, but that's Diana's victory, not Michael's. A few headlines isn't enough, MJ deserves his own inquest and the truth about how Bashir deceived MJ and manipulated the public with his documentary deserves to be heard.
It'll never be enough, as Michael is gone and is never coming back, but we are so close to at least one of the scumbag leeches in his life getting their comeuppance, I think the fanbase really needs to push this with all their might.
If you care about Michael the human being at all, this should bother you.

petitions don't always work. most of the time if it has to do with health or safely they most likely do. since this about MJ being framed by bashir i doubt this gonna work but nothing worth trying. one thing for sure that petition has over 3,000 signatures already.

i agree that Michael deserve all the justice he's need. i don't know about this one. you see how long it took with leaving neverland, this right here is whole another level. ugh. there's nothing worth trying but the damage is pretty much done. i'll pray that this push through but i don't know.
good wishes everyone.
