Well, Gaz has finally put the final nail in the coffin for MJJC by closing several of the boards unless you make a minimum $10 per annum donation. He doesn't seem to realise it's not about the money, it's the principle.
Here's to MyMJJForum!

Restricting, or at the very least limiting, access to content unless you pay what is essentially an annual fee? I'm no lawyer, but I would think that something about requiring payment to use a service that uses Michael's name, it just doesn't seem like that would be legal. Anyway, I'm happy to see this forum as well. It's late so I'll look around more tomorrow

Doing it to 2000 Watts could be questionable, as one could interpret it as him charging to receive access to links for copyrighted material, a lot of which is unreleased. However even then, as long as MJJC isn't hosting said material on their servers, and takes down links upon The Estate/Sony's request, then I imagine they should be fine. Sony has had issues with them in the past as some people have uploaded then-unreleased demos like APWNN, and I think MJJC responded appropriately to removal requests. Can't remember perfectly. Anyhow as for the other forums, I don't think it's really a legal issue. Keep in mind how many third-party books have been published that use Michael Jackson's name without any permission from him or his estate. You (theoretically) have to pay them for access to the book. He has enabled access to all the forums again - which is good.

I always wondered how he was able to get away with accepting donations without the Estate's permission, but this makes sense.

I will be honest here. MJJC has too much of a MJ was JC idea running through the whole thing. I know nothing too much about this Gaz dude, only some negative things.
I have only signed onto maxjax myself about 7 months ago or so..It is very hard I know for some folks to feel comfortable with posting on Maxjax as it seems as if everyone knows each other well (and they do in real life at least a lot of them) Yet I enjoy discussions about MJs psychology his mistakes his success but also his sexuality and his issues (if he had them) with race.
Maxjax invites those types conversations where MJJC will shut you down so fast it is insane (never was I going to sign up there)
So to end, some boards are just going to appeal to certain people..For myself I need adults who can accept hard truths about MJ, that can be honest not all his music nor tours were THE BEST..Accept he used drugs and lied..If a board denies all of those hard truths I have no need to be there.

Dani I completely agree 100%. MattyJam has always seemed like a bit more of a level headed guy (he was quite a well known poster on MJJC), and he's said that he wishes to make this board less heavy handed in the moderation department, so hopefully this place will be somewhere where fans can discuss the slightly more controversial aspects of Michael's life without fear of being penalised.

I've been on other MJ boards before, but this is my favourite, purely because I know it's more open to debate/discussion and that you don't have to "fall in line" to be accepted as a member. Having said that, message boards are only as good as the members taking part, so I hope the community and the discussions grow on here.

I signed up here because I thought why not. I've been on Maxjax and MJJC for a while, although I tend to just argue with the more displaced members over on MJJC so I don't really go there often. I see some familiar people here and hope we'll have some interesting discussions.

Me too. I have teased discussions like this in the past, especially about his mental health and dependency on medication, and the fans really tear you apart for even suggesting such topics. They act like you took MJ's name in vain (that's a "no-no") and will be quick to question whether or not you are a genuine fan. lol. I think the fact that these aspects of MJ have gone ignored and sugar-coated his whole life is one of the very reasons he isn't with us today. But that's for a different thread. Anyway, glad to be here! The board has grown in a short period and I'm happy to see that! I think MJJC and MaxJax represent the two extremes of the fan community. One side treats MJ as a god (MJJC), while the other side is overly-critical every chance they get (MaxJax). I think there needs to be a balance between the two. We don't always have to praise MJ for everything he did, but we don't always have to criticize him either. I hope we can achieve that balance with this forum.

While it doesn't have to be MJJC, I definitely hope it won't become MaxJax either. My problem with MJJC is more with the leadership than anything.

I totally agree with you, Angel of Light. I have just now joined this board, especially, after looking over and actually reading some of the subject matter, and interesting comments that are posted here. I really think I’m going to like becoming a new member of this board. Thanks to the poster who invited me to join — I do appreciate the invitation.

I'm glad that fans have other options now. It's good for fans to interact with each other and talk about things that have substance.
Not all fans are the "Michael is a God" or "Michael was a mentally ill monster" or the "MJ is still alive!" ilk and this place I feel proves that

I think you've really hit the nail on the head there. Hopefully this board can be a place for fans who love and respect MJ, and believe in the goodness of his character, but also accept he was a human being with flaws just like the rest of us.

Yeah, Jaywonder, it did seem like some posters over on “Max-Jax” were being quite a bit too hard on me, especially, when I happen to disagree with some of them over a particularly controversial topic. I thank you, so much, for your inviting me to become a member of this board.
