Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees and Pop King Michael Jackson had known each other for decades and had many milestones together; becoming confidants, godparents of each other's children and eventually recording a duet together in 2002.
When Michael Jackson was at the height of his fame —and facing increasing media scrutiny and legal problems—he moved into Gibb's mansion in Miami, Florida.
Gibb had lived in Miami since 1975 with his wife Linda and their five children, and Michael felt at home on the spacious waterfront property.
Gibb said his house became a safe haven for Michael.
"He would come to Miami and stay at our house," Barry said during an interview with the Mirror. "[It was] just before his trial for child sexual abuse. We never discussed the case."
Barry Gibb revealed that even behind closed doors, fame 'consumed' Michael and he struggled to relax.
"He would sit in the dining room dressed as if he were going up on stage. Basically, he'd taken over his whole life. He didn't know how to be a normal person anymore. He wished he was somewhere else, or someone else. I've never had that kind of fame. I managed to keep my distance, love and raise my children and basically keep my sanity to some extent. That's probably my best achievement."
It was during those days in Miami that Barry Gibb and Michael Jackson wrote the song called 'All In Your Name'
"Michael Jackson and I were great friends," Barry said after the release of the duet video in 2011.
''All in Your Name is, the message that Michael wanted to send to all his fans around the world he made for them and for the pure love of music. The song was recorded and filmed at Middle Ear Studios in December 2002. All the footage was done by Ashley Gibb on an 8mm camera" Barry Gibb named one of his sons after Michael Jackson —who was also the boy's godfather.
The tragic passing of the King of Pop on June 25, 2009 shook the Gibb family:
"We are devastated. Not only did we lose a great friend in Michael, but we also lost a wonderful and sensitive human being."

With 19 million streams, the song 'Heaven Can Wait' is a hit after trending in TikTok among young people. Released on the album Invincible (2001) was co-producer Andreao "Fanatic" Heard who shared his experience with the King of Pop during an interview with Artistry Drop.
Originally intended for singer Kevon Edmonds, Heard was paralyzed when Sony label executives banned him from presenting the song to Jackson: "They said no one would record this song because it was about death." Unbehaved, the producer managed to deliver the demo to Teddy Riley's assistant in the hope that he would produce it for the new album.
"Two weeks later we were in Miami and Michael Jackson was two yards away from me talking about the music."
Recording with Michael Jackson was a great experience, were you nervous to be around the King of Pop?
''When Michael Jackson talked to you he looked into your eyes like you were a teacher, you wouldn't hear anything else just paying attention —and I smiled inside just thinking 'I'm talking to Michael Jackson!!'. It wasn't just a handshake, it was a complete conversation about the history of music. There was a guy in front of me talking about the music we were working on. It was surreal.''
What was he like as a person?
A nice guy and very, very, very, very, very, very, sincere. He was very humble, down to earth, really made my head explode feel his sincerity and honesty.
When he spoke to you, it gave the impression that he was not of this world. He filled the studio with his aura. I'm serious! (...)

Dres Reid began dancing at age 7, at age 21, moved to Los Angeles where his dancing career began. Her first contract was in 2006, a world tour with Christina Aguilera; later he would do three other tours with her.
During his dancing career, Dres participated in 15 tours, danced in dozens of videos, hundreds of shows and awards ceremonies but the main highlight of his career is definitely dancing with Michael Jackson.
ow did you hear about the audition for MJ's show?
''I've been a professional dancer in Los Angeles for 12 years, so my agent called me the day before the audition, he said to me, "Hey, Michael's auditioning," and I said "okay... no way."
You didn't believe me?
''I didn't believe it. And he said, "I'm serious. there will be an audition and you have to go." I thought, "I'm going to, have fun," because, you know, I thought this might be one of your last auditions. So I went and had fun, so much. The audition was on stage and I'm a professional dancer used to being on stage, so everything was comfortable for me.''
Was he present at the audition?
''We didn't know. But yes, he was watching the whole test. He picked me, he said, "I like that guy with the rip-rap hat," so that's how I got picked.''
How long did the audition last?
''Two days.''
And how many people were there?
''At the audition, I think there were about 1,500 people, but in total there were about 5,000.''
And they chose only 11 or 12 people in the end?
''Yes, at first they chose only 6 people, and then 4 more.''
How did you first meet Michael?
''When they told me I had got the job. I was on stage and they said, like, "Dres Reid, you're one of Michael Jackson's top dancers, so come meet Michael." And I was like - what? Know who? They say, "Come and meet Michael"; I couldn't move, I couldn't get off the stage! And they were like -- get off the stage, come meet Michael.''
So he was there?
''Yes, and he said, "Hello, Dres, nice to meet you, I'm glad you're part of my family, " and I was like... AAAAA! Okay, here's Michael, and he said my name! Bow to the King! yes, I was like ,Oh my God!''
How were the first rehearsals? How did you start learning the choreography?
''We all knew the choreography... so honestly, among all my work, this was the easiest. The funst and the easiest. We learned all the choreography in two weeks, because we already knew and we were all big fans of Michael. We learned from Travis Payne and Stacy Walker, and then Michael came. He was alone maybe for a week, and after that he stayed with us every day.''
Did he go to rehearsals every day?
''Yes, he was there every day.''
Was it hard for you to concentrate when you took the stage with him?
''My God, YES! We all were petrified and then we smelled his perfume and knew Michael was there. When you start to smell him it's because you knew he was there by your side.'' Wasn't he saving his strength in rehearsals?
''No, he couldn't help it, it gave him a lot of energy, so whenever he was on stage he couldn't help himself, he had to go up and dance.''
Was there really a dress rehearsal, the whole running of the show, or did you just rehearse separate songs?
''We did the whole show the last two days before he passed away. We didn't have all the costumes because some of them would go to Europe.''
Can you remember any funny moment in the rehearsal?
''One of my favorite moments is when we took ballet lessons. Misha's mother —one of the dancers—is a ballet teacher, and we were doing pilates in the warm-up. We told him he should bring his mother to teach us ballet—and she was hired to teach us ballet! She's as crazy as any of us, so it was fun having her, she had fun with us.''
You said your favorite song was Beat It, and the choreography? Was that your favorite too?
''On this tour, my favorite was Smooth Criminal. He used only six dancers, sometimes seven, but he let us give our opinions, so I said, "Hey, Michael, we have the whole stage, so how about using these six dancers and letting us get to the top [of the stage platform]?" And he took my advice and did it. So we all had moments when we could bring our own contributions. We all put a lot of love and effort into This Is It.''
Did he make any comments about the dances?
''He wanted to do exactly the way the fans remembered. We could add our little things, but he wanted the essence of his choreography. Everything was done for the fans, the fans chose the songs, they chose what dances we were doing, so he wanted it to be exactly the way they wanted it.''
What did you learn from Michael and how it helped him in his career?
''I learned the professionalism. All aspects. Michael wasn't just a dancer, he wasn't just a singer. You know, he's actually more of a dancer to me than a singer. He was great at everything. He worked with music, it was great working with Michael Bearden, it was great working with Kenny Ortega, Travis and the dancers —he was everywhere. So I learned to be versatile. More versatile.''
What is your best memory of the entire This Is It project?
''His smile. He was always smiling, always L.O.V.E. It's the only thing I miss.'' He used to hug you?
''All of us. But it started with me. As soon as he came to rehearsal, I said, "Michael!" —and I ran to hug him. And so he hugged everyone. And he couldn't help it, he was just like us, he was excited to see us how much we were looking forward to seeing him. He wasn't Michael, the god, he was Michael, a normal person. He acted like we were the stars. He treated us like stars.''
Was there any music that used to have no choreography, something that was new to you?
''The Drill was a mix of Bad and some other songs. What else ... Each song had little pieces that we added here and there, but most of the time everything was the same. The only thing that didn't get into the movie This Is It was Dangerous.
Was it some new version of Dangerous or the same as always?
''No, same as always. I still remember everything.''
What other performers have left the deepest impression on you?
''Chris Brown is my favorite. He may have a crazy personal life, but it reminds me a lot of Michael. A real dancer. He's an artist, he sings, he acts, he does the same things Michael did. In my opinion, he's the closest thing to Michael we have right now.''
Who else would you like to work with in the future?
''Probably, I'd just like to work with Chris and Justin Timberlake. They're my favorites.''

'I've worked with Michael on many occasions... First in 1979, during the production of the album "Off The Wall", which was recorded in my old studio, Image Recording.
I then spent some time in 1980 (or 81?) with Michael recording demos for Thriller and it was a great time because it was just the two of us for a while. It was a great experience. I spent days recording vocals and he danced like a storm while singing and making all those vocal sounds that 'spiced up' his tracks.
Over the next two years, I produced the Jacksons many times, recording several tracks. I've met all the brothers.
Bruce Swedien returned to Image Recording to record a song (or two?) for the Jackson brothers' album "Victory" around 1983. Another great experience. Bruce was the best sound engineer of all time, by the way. THE BEST.
I believe there were some sessions with Jackson in the next two years, but back then, Michael was very popular and I didn't see him that much. Our next meeting took place in 1995 on the album HIStory. We were all at Larrabee North Studio, where Bruce had a room and Eddie Delena was recording Michael's vocals a lot.
The most memorable session was with Dallas Austin recording the rap from The Notorious B.I.G. for "This Time Around". There I was, standing in a room with Dallas, Biggie and Michael. I'll never forget that.
The final days of that album were interesting, because Bruce gave me the task of sequencing the album and editing it to a size that could fit on a CD. And it wasn't an easy task because about seven minutes needed to be cut from somewhere. I put all this in Sound Tools and started to analyze each compass of each song very intimately.
I had to "negotiate" with Michael about what to take. I'm never going to forget tonight. Bruce told MJ that we would have to remove 1) one whole song or 2) edit the others to fit the CD. We chose the last... I started with music one and played to Michael my edits, "Oh no, we can't take that away... it's my favorite part of the album!". OK. Let's try another one, "No...'' and another ... And over the course of about five hours, we did it.
By the way, there's a video of my "trading session" with Michael, although I never got a copy. Maybe someday! Upon completion of the album, we were all invited to the Neverland ranch with our wives and children for a day of fun, with Michael as our host. What a memorable day!''

''I was fortunate enough to work with MJ early in my career. He was an amazing artist. Talented and extremely generous. In fact, I went from team assistant at hit factory studio in New York to freelance engineer to Bruce Swedien. Filming was supposed to start in Los Angeles, but after the Northridge earthquake we moved to New York. We occupy all the studios of the Hit Factory. The staff was great and I learned a lot from all of them. I had the opportunity to work with producers like MJ, Jimmy and Terry Lewis, Babyface, David Foster, Teddy Riley and Dallas Austin. In fact, I was asked to leave the project at first because there were many people around that MJ didn't know. Fortunately, I was rehired about 10 days later. At the closing party, MJ apologized and expressed his gratitude. Truly he was the most sincere man I've ever met.'' Some random stories: One morning, MJ arrived with a new song he had written during the night. We called a guitarist and Michael sang every note of every chord for him. "here is the first chord first note, second note, third note. etc., etc.'' He sang to us an entire string arrangement, every part. He had it all in his head. Again, while we were taking a break, we called the TV and the newsman started saying that Michael was seen in Europe holding hands with a child who was supposedly victim of abuse. I was sitting next to him while the news was making this crap up. He looked at me and said: That's what I have to deal with. I spent almost three years working with him, and I never once questioned his morals or believed any of these allegations. I saw him interact with the children of his brothers, other people's children and, at one point, the children of my own girlfriend. He was a completely amazing human being, always looking for a way to make every child's life better. He was simply living the childhood he never had. In many ways, he never grew up. I was there when Lisa Marie, your wife was around. They acted like two teenagers in love. Holding hands the whole time, and she was in the studio for a long time. I never questioned their love for each other. We recorded a Christmas song during the summer of '94 that needed a children's choir. Michael insisted that the entire studio be decorated with Christmas lights, a tree, fake snow and a sleigh for the recording. And he bought gifts for everyone! MJ won one of the first Playstations from Sony... And late at night we played games that hadn't been released yet. Some people in the studio hadn't watched the movie Jurassic Park, so MJ organized a private screening for us! I was fortunate to have access to masters tapes for touring, videos, etc. Being able to organize these tracks was a great lesson in production and composition. A chance to observe how this genius's mind worked.'' by Eddie Delena, sound engineer ![](https://miro.medium.com/max/1400/1*99apZVxkk7D5EC1_LnTy1w.jpeg)

''Some of the best times I spent with Michael were simply the ones where we were sitting on a bench at Disneyland. Sitting and watching people. Michael always disguised not to be recognized. When he was sad, I just said, Michael, the bank, and it cheered him up. If I knew he wanted to have fun, or just go out, I'd say, 'Let's go to the bank!''
Certainly, Michael Jackson in a public place like Disneyland drew crowds and sometimes we had to take security with us. But they wouldn't protect Michael, they were there to protect the crowd. He never cared about himself, but that someone could get hurt in the tumult of people who wanted to see him.
He loved his fans. I have lived with many great movie stars, but Michael's fans are more than fans. Wherever he went, the fans were there. He told me that the fans always knew what he was doing. I don't think anyone had fans like his.'

After "Thriller", the music videos became a sensation. Michael Jackson was responsible for showing the world that with music you can also tell stories and sell records. Thus mtv was born and an entire generation.
The music videos came to stay and this made more and more creativity put to the service of these filming. One of those people who worked on endless filming was Laura Fox, a production designer who worked with artists such as Eminem, Britney Spears and Michael Jackson himself.
In an interview with REALPOLITIK, Fox took stock of his career in the world of music (...)
RP.- If you had to choose the video that stands out the most from all the work you did, who is the star or what video is it?
I made a Michael Jackson video that didn't go so well, but it was the craziest experience. I built a huge set and when we were finishing it I didn't want to do it. We had to demolish it and within five days we had to rebuild it. The days became nights, the nights, days. There was Marlon Brando. It was the craziest experience. We built a bar, I was sitting on set, I was sitting and I could hear Michael singing and it was like, "Oh my God." You wouldn't have imagined it. Or at rehearsal, a dancer who was wrong but imperceptible to the eye, he was in front of them, and said, "Hey." I knew the guy had been wrong a thousandth of a part.
RP.- How was the experience with Michael Jackson, what made you change the set?
I rebuilt the same set, exactly, I didn't change anything. He was very sweet and hardworking, but he lived in his own bubble. Marlon Brando was amazing. It was a very strange experience. He was very calm and shy, as you would have expected. Like a kid, but incredibly talented.

"A longtime friend sent me these photos from 1984. It was on stage at the Victory Tour in Atlanta, the beginning of my career and an incredible friendship that lasted 26 years. I remember this moment like it was yesterday. We were trying a new illusion trick. Michael loved magic and constantly created new tricks. After the tour ended, we remained friends and created several amazing tricks, one of which is still on my show today. The moment these photos were taken, Michael called me aside and said, "When we get to Los Angeles, I want to do a trick with a tiger!." I answered, no problem, but the truth is I had no idea where to get this tiger!' by Franz Harari, illusionist ![](https://miro.medium.com/max/1400/1*eHwFkEgcruq3W5xkH_U-Hg.jpeg)

''You might think that the disease —vitiligo—completely destroyed Michael Jackson's fragile self-esteem, which he always considered to be an ugly man. But that's not true. I've never heard him complain.
He never asked himself "Why me?".
Michael was a man who silently carried his cross, which fate determined for him, and did so with dignity. He did not drown in self-pity but continued to work, create, enjoy life and strive to make this world a better place.''

With just a month to go until the start of the Bad World Tour, Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson decided to reach new posts and made a Spanish version and a French version of the song I Just Can't Stop Loving You.
All Mi Amor Lo Eres Tu
Rubén Blades, was invited to write the Spanish version. "Quincy Jones called to help him with a request from Michael Jackson," he explained. "He wanted to sing in Spanish for the first time in his career. I adapted I Just Can't Stop Loving You (Todo Mi Amor Lo Eres Tu) into Spanish and spent three days with Michael's sound engineer Quincy and Humberto Gatica, teaching him how to pronounce the words, taking on the role of coach during recording. He did a spectacular job. He was extremely professional, an excellent student and enthusiastic about singing in Spanish."
Behind the scenes of Todo Mi Amor Lo Eres Tu are well documented in the Bad 25 by Spike Lee
Initially published to the Spanish-language market (as a single and bonus track on vinyl or CD editions), this version was made available more widely in 2001 for the special edition of the album Bad.
Je Ne Veux Pas La Fin De Nous
The French version was created by a Belgian friend of Quincy Jones, Christine Decroix. The weak translation and difficulties of Michael and Siedah to turn the lyrics into French may explain why the song was not released at the time. It came out on the album Bad 25.

"What was Michael Jackson like before and after his amazing shows," asks David Noh, a journalist in an interview with Michael Bush, the stylist who has been with the King of Pop for 24 years:
"He was a dancer, and that's all he did, no photo shoots or interviews. The show was so important to his audience that he wanted to be prepared to give 100 percent every time.
After all the adrenaline of a nearly three-hour show, he watched it all frame by frame; Bush: 'There's a yellow light over my head. It should be blue. Take note.'' He said, a total perfectionist.
Michael was an extremely polite person. He always made sure to go with him if he was invited to some fabulous place, like a palace in Europe. The effect in which he could make that amazing dance step like tilting the body, we perfected together. In the patent he included my name and Dennis Tompkins's name that he didn't have to do. He always made sure you got the credit and the compliments, too.''

The Model, Socialite and ex-wife of infamous US President Donald Trump, Ivana has passed away on July 14 from a fall down the stairs at her New York home.
But did you know Ivana Trump fully supported Michael and here what she wrote in her 2017 memoir ‘Raising Trump’, she revealed: “The only person who had an open invitation to come to the triplex for playdates whenever he wanted was Michael Jackson.”
She went on to explain Jackson had a home in Trump Tower in Manhattan – where he lived for around 10 months in 1994 – and used to visit the family’s apartment to “hang out” with the kids.
Ivana added: “The King of Pop lived in Trump Tower and was a good friend of our whole family,” she explained, adding, “He’d stop by and chat with Donald and me for twenty minutes, and then he’d go up to the kids’ floor to hang out with them for hours and hours.”
She explained the ‘Thriller’ star used to love playing video games with the youngsters, adding: “They’d watch MTV, play Mario Brothers or Tetris, and build Trump Tower in Legos. Michael was a thirty-year-old kid. He could relate to Ivanka and the boys better than to us.”
Ivana said she or the children’s nannies were always in the room during the playdates — but that she “never believed the accusations that he molested those kids” anyway.
“He was a child himself in a man’s body, tender, sweet and gentle … there’s no way he could have hurt anyone.”
Ivana also recalls how Jackson, at the peak of his fame, went to see young Ivanka perform in The Nutcracker.
“Michael told me that she looked like an angel that night,” Ivana recalls.
Donald, Jr also spoke about Jackson’s visits to the Trump home in a 2019 appearance on Fox News, saying: “Michael Jackson used to come up and he was our neighbour at Trump Tower. So I was playing ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ with Michael Jackson! You know, this is in the early 90s – maybe even in the late 80s. Peak Michael.”
He also revealed his dad Donald once gave away one of his video games to the singer, adding: “We’re playing Nintendo and Michael really likes the game. So my dad walks in and says, ‘Well, why don’t you take the game, Michael?’ I’m pretty sure Michael could’ve called Nintendo and said, ‘I want one of those’. It wouldn’t have been a big deal, but he just took it.”

Michael Jackson was a unique artist who oversaw all the details of his shows, from choreography to rhinestone and carefully hand-sewn pearls on his clothes.
As much as music and dance characterized the King of pop, Jackson was also known for his style, from military clothing to jewel-encrusted gloves, hats, and carefully crafted jackets.
Michael Bush, the man who designed and sewed the costumes Jackson wore on stage for 25 years until 2009, recalls:
"The clothes had to work around the way he was performing. It was an additional layer of refinement and detail that he projected for his audience. Everything Jackson wore had a focus and was an extension of what he did on stage, with dance having a key role in clothing design. He preferred rhinestone and beads because they reflected with the stage light. Everything was very well thought out," Bush said, adding that as the stadiums got bigger, Jackson's pants got smaller and smaller, so his rhinestone socks could be seen.

Grammys, MTV, American Music Awards and the like, were never on Michael Jackson's list of attending awards even though they recognized his accomplishments.
Larry Stoessel (music director responsible for marketing the albums Thriller and Bad) recalls: "[CBS President] Walter Yetnicoff called me and said, 'I want Michael at the Grammys.' I said, "Michael already said he's not performing at the Grammy Awards. He's been to all these awards with Thriller. He's not going to do that. He doesn't like it. He's very shy.'' Walter replied, "Tell him I want him to be at the Grammys. And that's final."
I told Michael that Walter had called and wanted him to perform at the Grammys. He said, "Oh, no..." And I added, "Pierre [Cossette, Grammy producer] wants you to attend the awards. You can open the show. You can close it. You have five minutes, ten minutes, whatever, but he wants you.''
MJ then said, "Okay, that's what I want: I'll sing 'Man in the Mirror' with a black choir and most importantly, I want a screen on the ceiling that shows the video so I can see and feel the music.''
