Michael Jackson’s Son Prince Jackson Shares 1 Piece of Advice From His Dad He Still Follows More than a decade has passed since Michael Jackson’s death, and his children Prince Michael, Paris, and Bigi Jackson are making their own moves as adults in the world. Prince, the eldest of the Jackson children, is a philanthropist and works in entertainment while sister Paris launched her own music career. Though Prince tends to stay out of the spotlight, he recently opened up about his father and his current ventures. Michael ‘Prince’ Joseph Jackson wants to uphold his dad’s legacy After graduating college in 2019 with a degree in business, Michael Joseph Jackson Jr. — who goes by Prince — continued his work in entertainment as a director and music producer. But for years, he’s been doing charitable work through his own non-profit organization, the Heal Los Angeles Foundation. As a co-founder, Jackson is hands-on with fundraising, outreach, and direct assistance with food, education, and extracurricular activities for the community. Recently, his organization focused their efforts on providing access to food and healthcare during the pandemic. His interest in philanthropy is something Jackson’s father cultivated in him from a young age. Prince Jackson reveals what wisdom his dad Michael Jackson passed to him Jackson made a rare appearance on Fox Soul’s The Mix to discuss his charity work and provided a tiny glimpse into his personal life. He opened up about how close his family is and expressed how grateful he is to have such a large support system. Jackson also shared that his dad exposed him and his siblings to a variety of music as they grew up. Along with that, Michael Jackson also taught his kids that a tremendous amount of work is put into creating music. Jackson admitted that his father also imparted plenty of “nuggets” when it came to life lessons, and he talked about of the most important piece of his dad’s wisdom that he applies in his life. “The one that is my guiding principle is that you never stop learning,” he said. “And my father would also say something along the lines of ‘The minute that you stop learning is the minute that you’re going to start dying.’” Jackson also credits his father with instilling in him a sense of community and giving back. Jackson shared a funny anecdote about his father’s fame During his chat with The Mix crew, Jackson was asked how old he was when he realized Michael Jackson was a megastar. He said there were clues along the way, but he finally figured it out when he was about 9 or 10 years old. Jackson watched one of his father’s concert videos and saw a “sea of people,” some of whom fainted at the sight of his dad. He finally said to him, “Why are they fainting? I see you every day and I don’t faint.” He said that’s when he got the message that people were touched by his father’s music and performances. Fans are welcome to keep up with Prince Jackson on Instagram and Twitter to learn more about his non-profit, Heal LA, and his upcoming projects. www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/michael-jackson-son-prince-jackson-shares-1-piece-of-advice-from-his-dad.html/

Michael Jackson’s Son, Prince Jackson, Shares the Moment He Realized Just How Famous His Dad Was To the world, Michael Jackson was the King of Pop. But there was a side of Jackson that fans never got the chance to see. For instance, the singer had a little-known love of thrift shops, including such items in his “Thriller” video. Though Jackson was one of the most famous entertainers that ever lived, it took a while for his children to recognize how beloved he truly was. Michael Jackson’s songs changed the music industry forever It’s nearly impossible to overstate the impact Jackson had on the music industry and on culture as a whole. A true showman, the singer’s early success with his brothers in the Jackson 5 was just the beginning. His solo career truly took flight in late 1979 with the release of Off the Wall featuring iconic singles “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough” and “Rock with You.” 1982’s Thriller cemented Jackson as one of the most influential stars of all time. That album is among the biggest-selling in music history. And subsequent albums such as Bad, Dangerous and HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I kept Jackson’s legacy alive and thriving. By the time the King of Pop died in 2009, his estimated net worth stood at $500 million. The moment Prince Jackson realized just how famous his father was To the outside world, Jackson was a larger-than-life figure. From within his personal life, his children didn’t realize just how iconic their father really was. But on a recent appearance on the talk show The Mix — available on the streaming Fox Soul network — Jackson’s son, Prince Jackson opened up about the exact moment he understood the depths of his father’s fame. “It’s really more like there were these little seeds as I was growing up and getting older. And I saw that people would follow us around. People would just want to reach out and touch my dad. But it was really when I was maybe around 10 or 11 in the Middle East when I was watching a video of my father performing. And I don’t remember the name of the tour. I believe it may have been the HIStory tour. But he’s performing outside, and you see this sea of people. And there are people fainting in the audience. I asked my dad, ‘Why are they fainting? I see you every day. I don’t faint.’” Certainly, Jackson’s music elicited a strong emotional response from fans. But perhaps no one got a closer look into the man behind the mask than his children. Following his 2009 death, Jackson reportedly left much of his estate to his kids and his mother, Katherine Jackson. How old would Michael Jackson be today? Jackson’s influence as a performer and cultural icon lives on. Countless musical artists have cited the impact his career had on their own. And yet, Jackson has been gone for more than a decade. And fans can only imagine what the singer — who would be in his early 60s — would be up to now if he were still alive. Although Jackson might be gone, his music continues to circulate and inspire. From his early Motown records to his final studio album, 2001’s Invincible, Jackson’s level of success is unparalleled. As much value as there is in keeping his children out of the spotlight, it’s heartening to hear they recognized how important Jackson was to his fans. www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/michael-jacksons-son-prince-jackson-moment-how-famous-his-dad.html/

He almost cries in this video. He reminds me so much of Michael's caring nature.

I like Prince, he seems the real deal. Although I've seen a few videos of him now where he seems to say some pretty questionable stuff about mental health and "choosing to be happy."
I hate it when people who've never had depression/anxiety/OCD say all you need is more fresh air, exercise, sex, a better job and therapy. Some peoples brains are just wired differently. Sometimes there isn't a reason and it just is what it is. To say otherwise is just misunderstanding what mental health is really all about.
To clarify, I'm not saying some of these things wouldn't help. I know it's been proven that fresh air and exercise help. But someone suffering serious mental health problems isn't going to find a solution to their struggles from those things alone. It's a patronising thing to say and undermines the gravity of that persons struggle. Only someone who's never lived with depression/anxiety/OCD would think it could be cured that easily.

Did you watch this video? Because he addresses this in it. Yes I did. I still think he comes off a little naive on the subject though. At least in this video he acknowledges a lack of understanding about how to deal with mental health, but in past videos I've disliked his choose-to-be-happy stance as it has come off as a little dismissive. I put it down to lack of life experience though, as Prince seems like he has a good head on his shoulders and seems to genuinely care about others, which is actually quite rare, especially for someone in his age range. MJ raised him well.
