Just back from my walk and something occurred to me. I thought maybe this was their "test the waters" release to gauge the public response to a new product. What if this really was a "canary in the mine" situation where they were like, let's release this with ZERO effort and see how it does? It's clearly done well from a re-release standpoint, very well considering they barely advertised it. I'd love to know what the end game was here.

I'd love to know what the end game was here. They definitely just crapped it out because Sony was wondering why they weren't releasing stuff. I'm not gonna pretend any thought or strategy went into this release.

Imagine how successful it could have been.

I didn't know James Ingram, neither Jeff Porcaro had passed. Many ones involved in Michael's most successful albums are leaving this world.
I'm glad Thriller still charting despite of being released almost a half century ago but it's bittersweet without the mastermind behind of such a timeless and iconic album. Michael and Thriller are forever.

Michael and Thriller are forever. Indeed. Makes the fact that the estate don't at all care about MJ's collaborators even more sad. Many of them won't be here to talk about it soon.

Thriller is so special that there's even a massive amount of people who immensely dislike MJ that cite it as being amazing.
I think it was the perfect storm, a literal once in a lifetime thing. All the stars in the universe aligned at the precisely right moment in history. It won't happen again. MJ, Quincy, Bruce, the musicians, writers and team made the most perfect sounding album ever made.
I'm so glad it did well and I'm glad for MJ, Quincy and the team that it's 40th anniversary was marked and I'm glad for us that we were able to mark it.

this thriller 40 event is top secret it seems, weโre not allowed to have our cameras out during the showing. Will try to post about how it was after the show
