Hey y'all..
Been intending to make an account here for oh, round ~2 years. Got stuck trying to think of an original username, which is never an easy feat in this fan community
That said I feel like this forum is very much like a home for me - I have read back to the forum's inception posts (because I have no life/COVID lockdowns). Screw the *other* MJ forum and he who shall not be named (if you know, you know).
As for me: I'm about as old as MattyJam and TonyR. Played the Moonwalker VHS til it wouldn't play anymore. Wish I could relive the glee of seeing that amazing intro to MITM, then later Brace Yourself and everything else on Dangerous: The Short Films. Bought each single as HIStory was released, eyes glued to the TV for Earth Song, Scream, YANA, etc til we had History On Film. Was the weird kid who wore a fedora, loafers, white socks, black trousers, black loafers AND white finger tape ~age 11. To school. Daily. For longer than I care to admit. *hangs head in shame* Old enough to remember MJIFC, MJNI and those daily email digests (and that awful flash on mjjnet! My modem was not having it at 28.8!). My Dangerous CD had scratches like all hell from those old crappy discmans (skip protection?!). Went to MJ Days starting around 96? 97? (If anyone's memory is better than mine help me out here) and Neverland before he officially never returned. Chased him like those fans on old footage, camping outside hotels freezing and all that jazz. What a magical time it was to be alive, there was like an electricity in the air, a buzz, a light, a something I try to explain to casual or non fans what it was like for us back then.
Remember his children being born. Remember those History bootleg tapes. And us fans writing each other snail mail from all over the globe. Y'all get the idea - I'm old, been in this fan community for 3 decades (ugh that hurts - I feel old typing this) Ahh I miss those days. Defended and received much bullying for defending Michael in 1993 to the extent I physically fought other youngsters - ya know the good ole days! Remember the lady with the white doves when MJ was aquitted? I was pretty dang close to being her by that time lol
I have likely have crossed paths either online or IRL from what I gathered from reading here over the years. I'm currently listening to RTT New Jack Main mix on CD - a bit of bliss from when I was a much younger adult haha
Long story short on a positive note: "rhinoceros skin", MJ had it, we all do too.
