I heard that not even the rest of the band liked Hot Space. It was mainly Freddie pushing them into doing "disco" - or as it was put in a documentary "a certain kind of music that would be played in certain kind of clubs" (meaning gay clubs). LOL.

Yeah generally I think the rest of the band weren't into it.

I really need break out the record player and play some of my studio collection vinyls again. I'm just worried about damaging them haha.

Also, on the topic of current queen. My interest ends once Freddie is no longer present, and with Roger and Brian's refusal to release any unreleased material beyond made in heaven (which was heavily reworked) I doubt I'll be interested in anything they release any time soon. Unless it's an unreleased concert or something. They have a habit of changing things and mixing vocals of shows together or re recording instruments for what is supposed to be a live performance that they clearly have the original audio for. It's annoying.

Always thought George Michael should have joined the group proper in the 90s after Freddie's passing, and released new music and toured. Would have been a great way to keep up the talent from all ends.
Queen since then (the early to mid 90s) has been a bit flat tholamugh - I like Adam Lambert okay, but it all just feels a bit warmed over at this point. I just hope it gives new generations the chance to enjoy Queen though.

It's not Queen without Freddie and John. If Brian and Roger wished to continue to make music, they should have done so without calling themselves Queen. George Michael was the only one close to make Freddie justice in that 1992 concert tribute but Freddie is irreplaceable.

George Michael was the only one close to make Freddie justice in that 1992 concert tribute but Freddie is irreplaceable. Why exactly? All members were as responsible for the music as Freddie, from a song writing & production perspective.
Why can't Brian & Roger still perform the songs that they wrote under the moniker of a band they were 50% of?
And yes, George Michael was amazing at the tribute concert, byt saying he should have taken over Freddie is disrespectful to his solo career and the fact that he is an amaziong songwriter in his own right and should have moved to performing someone else's material.

For the reason you just told in your first sentence. If two very vital members are gone/retired, it's not Queen anymore. Adam Lambert is on huge shoes he will never fill, again, Freddie is irreplaceable.

^^No one like Freddie being flamboyant on stage. He could get away with wearing makeup, fake knockers, high heels and looking fabulous even if falling. I rest my case.

Since Freddie died, Brian and Roger have been known as Queen + (indicating a difference). They know its not the same, nor ever will it be, but if you see their shows, ive never seen such true joy and enjoyment eminate so much from anyone like Brian and Roger. They love playing their music, and they do it so well. They also honour Freddie gorgeously

I've saw Roger perform days of our lives with the Freddie montage in the back on YouTube. I would love to be able to see that in person tbh. Very nice tribute. youtu.be/XgcfBUzbNSk
