^^ Really glad you dug it Aazzaabb. It was on one of the first boots I ever got of Prince back when I first became a fan in the late 90s. I loved it from the first moment I heard it. To me, it is the sound of Prince & The Revolution firing on all cylinders, at the absolute peak of their creativity. It was originally meant to be on Parade and then again on Dream Factory (the original working title for SOTT).
I just love the bones of this song, it gets me very emotional when I listen to it. There's something innocent about it, I think it's a mix of the carnival-esque whimsy in the music and the lyrics which remind me of childhood, and of not selling out on your younger self and the dreams you believed in before adult life took away your hope/innocence.
This song really speaks to me on a personal level, probably more so than any other song.

Funny you mentioned Parade because there's something in this song that reminds me of something they did on the Parade tour but I can't put my finger on it. You know when they do How Much Is That Doggy In The Window? They also sing happy birthday to Prince. But melody wise something sounds familiar.

TBH, I think if I had to pick just one song, it'd be All My Dreams by Prince. Even though MJ is my number one favourite artist, this Prince song is my all time favourite song by anyone. It's just everything to me. It's magical, whimsical, experimental, a man at the height of his creative powers and the overall meaning of the song means an awful lot to me. "No childs a failure until the blue sailboat sails him away from his dreams / Don't ever lose, don't ever lose, don't ever lose your dreams." And to think, this song is STILL unreleased. Unbelieveable to think that such a masterpiece is still so unknown to so many people. If you haven't heard it, check it out below. It kind of goes off on a bit of a tangent for a few minutes in the middle section, but it just makes the payoff at the end all the more satisfying. Do yourself a favour and listen to the entire 7min and 12secs and I promise you won't regret it: Interesting choice and indeed interesting track. Never heard it before. I'm a casual Prince listener/fan for years yet this song never made its way to me, lol. Overall, I think I like it, however (honestly) I think the praise you gave it is somehow personally loaded, no? No offence haha. As you wrote, it holds a lot of personal feelings to you. Plus I think it's always where you're coming from and what your musical preferences are. I don't think it unfolds Prince' diverstiy as an artist as you described it. Not in his entirety though. On the other hand I couldn't name a song that does it ...

I think the praise you gave it is somehow personally loaded, no? Well, isn't that the case for anybody's favourite song? I mean, it's all subjective. For what it's worth, it is a very highly regarded track amongst Prince fans, so I'm certainly not alone in rating it highly.

One of these days I will own every Prince bootleg that ever leaked! Well that's probably almost impossible but I can dream. Cheers for bringing this one to my attention. I totally agree, not my absolute favourite, but it is up there. I have several boots with it - but the best is a set from 2012, called Perfect Unreleased Prince and the song is just great. It is also on the Dream Factory July 18 1986 boot which includes the Strange Relationship with all the sitars and shit at the start. The lyrics in all my dreams are just magical and it is so trippy you feel like you are floating in it while Prince haros on about Africa and Captain Crunch in one line. Thanks for bringing this song up - on a Michael Jackson fan site no less.
