I didn't know Rebbie made that cover, I liked it a lot more than Madonna's, TBH. Even Michael and Martha Wash (It's Raining Men, Gonna Make You Sweat) eat LaToya alive in the Centipede background vocals. Voice--wise, Rebbie is a better singer than Janet, IMO but Janet is ahead in talent because she's a better entertainer and has been more constant to have a career. |

Janet is a better all-round artist, though. But I cannot see a good reason why I'd put LaToya ahead of Rebbie. More active or not, listening to her singing is torture.

Well LaToya has 9 albums, did Playboy, had a psychic hotline, appeared in numerous reality tv shows, has 2 books, she does the opening scream on Heartbreak Hotel, appeared in Say Say Say, We Are The World and The Way You Make Me Feel videos.
She even had surgery to look like MJ and is just all round funny! Fuck me, she's so untalented that she's multitalented!

Interesting🤔 I'm still putting LaToya above Rebbie because I just find her a more interesting prospect. Her life has been a bit of a car crash at times but she's entertained me, and that's enough when she's so far down the list. Is she talented, technically? No she's not, but sometimes it can be subjective. There's plenty of people in the world without talent who are considered to have talent and at this stage being LaToya Jackson is a sort of talent all on it's own surely, or an entertainment atleast. I don't know, are talent and entertainment always mutually exclusive? I think not actually. If this is all based on technical talent alone, then perhaps Rebbie should be above some of the brothers and most of them need to be reassessed. In reality Tito is arguably more talented than Janet. I mean Tito is a fairly superb musician at this point and Janet lip syncs. It's all subjective really and 90% of the Jackson's are there on merit and because of there name. I'm bassing my estimations on personal taste which I sort of thought was the point. |

Toy has made her life "interesting" because she has purposely put herself in the spotlight. I don't think she'd have got half the interest she's received if she wasn't a Jackson, many people like gossip and want to get anything from Michael even if it means getting it from a sister with questionable credibility.
If LaToya is still in showbiz is not for her own merits but because of her last name.
Rebbie wasn't consistent in having a career but it's foolish to say she's the least talented. Based on the Jacksons' variety show videos I've seen besides the Fever cover, besides being the best singer out the 3 sisters, she was a good dancer.
I will never get why even MJ's own fans continue to give him a gripe over his surgeries, not all of them were a choice, unlike LaToya's but trying to look as normal as he could given the fact lupus can be disfiguring for some people who are affected by it.

Most of his surgeries weren't to purposely change himself, they were reconstructive surgeries since lupus affected the scaring on his nose. How do you even know Michael forgave her? She has told many lies and admitted in this 2004 interview she never discussed that infamous press conference because that's the Jacksons'way. If I were her I'd rather be dead than betraying in such a despicable way to Michael. And what she said about Joseph was deplorable too, Joe is an horrendous human but being incestous against his daughters WASN'T one of the horrible things he did. |

Yes , acc. to LaToya they never talked about what she did to MJ during the 1993 allegations. They just seemed to turn a blind eye on it and move on. I am not sure if one can really forgive and heal if you never really talk through it.
Anyway, the thread is about talent and I don't think it is what she did to MJ why people say she is the least talented. I don't think that opinion has anything to do with grudge. It's just that objectively she simply not talented, period.
I don't particularly like Jermaine either as a person - I much prefer Jackie or Tito, but that didn't stop me from putting Jermaine on 3rd place, because I judged by their achievements and talents as artists here, not anything else.

In MJJC I would got at least warned or banned for two days for saying that remark about Michael's surgeries, but like them or not he had surgery guys and unfortuantely it helped make him look less black and more white. Thin noses are traditionally white, thick ones are black. Thinning lips is a white thing (Many blacks have bigger lips than whites and the whites with big lips like Jagger, Tyler and me are often called mocking names about our supposed ancestry). Okay he thickened his lips in his last few years.
Jackson also had cheek lifts and a chin implant, these are features designed to make him less black looking and more white looking. Of course he claimed it, was to look less like Joseph and Joseph is a Black man, so Michael is moving away from it. His surgeries do not make me think less of his talent, but Michael was addicted to surgery, his nose did collapse due to the amount of flesh removed, his body looked very un natural by his death. I felt his plastic surgery was extreme and grossly excessive. Part of the reason why I like Prince more, was that he remained natural and actually looked like a Black man when he was young and when he died (Okay there was a mid 80s to mid 90s era where he could pass for white, but that was through makeup and straightening his hair, his lips were still juju and he still big eyes (Prince had more white ancestry than Michael and hence why his nose was quite thin and angular).
The definition of Black is loose in America, Slave rape and cases of slave blacks becoming lovers of whites were common, despit official banning and thus DNA suggests the average pure African American is between 10 - 25% white, but racist one drop laws during the Jim Crow era, ensured that anyone with any African blood was listed black and it is obvious many so called "Black" people are much lighter skinned than others. Michael and the Jacksons were probably less than 25% white, but Prince was around 40 - 50% white looking at his skin colour and face shape. Usually the last feature to look white is the hair, hence why a person who coudl be as much as 75% white could still has bushy and curly black hair. Poor record keeping and secret details of rape and birth of mixed race kids mean that exact percentage of black and white are hard to work out.
But when you watch any Black sitcom or TV show with a large or mostly black cast, it is hilarious how they are all different colours from Wesley Snipes colour down to the colour of people like Sondra Lebeauf and Karyn Parsons (Sondra and Hilary in Cosby and Fresh prince). With the Jacksons, Joe had coarser features than Kathryn, but was probably more white than Katherine's family as he had freckles.
After this race discussion, the fact remains that biologically Michael was at least ¾ African ancestry yet his plastic surgery made him look 100% white. La Toya also looked fairly light after her surgeries but never went as far as Michael, I doubt Janet or the others have had much if anything done. If you look at the other 7 Jackson siblings (Rebbie to Jermaine, Marlon, Randy, Janet) they actually look like proud African American natural looking people.
I know I am going to catch shade from the LSA community, but who cares opinions are free.
