Really pissed off with my work right now. I've been called in for a stage 2 absence meeting for taking time off to be with my mother. She has really taken a turn for the worse in the last two weeks and will probably be moving into a hospice at some point in the next week. I decided to spend as much time as possible with her and put our issues to one side, and now my work are pressuring me. I rarely take time off and have been a reliable employer, who has worked for the company for 7 years. I've probably been off sick no more than about 4 or 5 days in total during that time, and my boss knows my situation with my mother and that she doesn't have much time.
It's so fucking depressing how employers expect you to be a machine. This is the last thing I need right now and they can fuck off with their meeting.

It's probably just a standard meeting they have with all people after a period of absence that they have to hold whatever the reason. I'm sure you'll find that it will be more a formality to check you're okay and to offer support if needed. I'd suggest not going in defensively but to hear them out. I doubt anything negative will come from it.

MJ or John Lennon version? Did he rip open his shirt and mimic an aggressive shouting pose? Beatles. He's very into them at the moment. HIStoric would be proud. I'm just disgusted that he didn't do the finger pose at 1 and 1 and 1 is 3 bit. Bastard.

Ah shit, thats a balls to have to deal with on top of your moms troubles. But, it could very well be standard. My colleague at work has been off the last couple of weeks. Her mom only passed on Wednesday, so she was given decent time to prepare for the inevitable. I hope this works out for you. Also, serious kudos for burying the past for this. That cant be easy. Fair play to you

Thatโs just a daily mail style Clickbait headline. It probably didnโt happen and if it did it was the teacher speaking for the, selves and not exactly as part of the curriculum. The tweet makes it sound like the teacher has been told to teach this as part of the course. Someone tweets this crap and all of a sudden this is โAll British Schoolsโ.

At this stage, based on a Tweet alone, it's impossible to say whether this genuinely happened, or what exactly was said. *If* it did happen - or anything like it - then it's utterly revolting and I hope the staff member gets pulled up on this. If true, I wouldn't want them even within miles of my son...let alone teaching. It's funny though...lately I've been wondering how far things are going to be pushed until society has lost all rational sense of thought. It's almost like society is being "tested" for how much crap we'll accept, and then seeing how far it can be taken. I mean, I am NOT talking about bi/gay/lesbians or transsexuals. But I am talking about online movements trying to make gender invisible, acting as if we are born without a sex, or teaching little boys they can actually have periods (really? Way to go to confuse them), or telling women they should be ashamed of themselves for not wanting to share toilets in pubs with men ... all this shitty craziness is out there and we are all meant to hop along happily because if we don't, we'll be seen as rude, old fashioned or bigoted. Sod that. I'm not bigoted. I'm all for freedom of expression and people should be who they want... I'm just not all for idiocy or illogical brain washing.

Thankyou TonyR and @innuendo141 for your kind words of support. Thankfully I had the meeting yesterday and took your advice Tony, and tried not to go in all defensive as fuck. It definitely helped and they were actually very sympathetic and asked if there was anything they could do to help. I have decided to take a month off, using the rest of my holiday entitlement and a weeks unpaid leave, as I don't forsee that I will be fit to return for a while. This last few weeks has been quite eye opening, in terms of learning to forgive someone I never thought I could forgive. My mother hasn't said a thing about our situation and I think she is just thankful that I am there for her at this time. She's moving into a hospice tomorrow as she is deteriorating at quite an alarming speed. It is utterly heartbreaking to watch her fade away physically before my eyes, but her spirit remains strong, and she is as sharp and as witty as ever. I'm sure she is putting on a brave face for us all, but she has been remarkably strong. Its just such a shame it took something like this to get us close again, after nearly a decade of being estranged.

At the end of all of this, you'll be able to hold your head high knowing you were there for your mom when it was most needed. This is very commendable and I'm glad to read, even though I'm sad to read about the situation. Hoping the next few weeks, you find some comfort. My inbox is always open, as I like to remind everyone!

The Creed soundtrack has a class song with John Legend on it.
Guess that means I've become a Tony now, eh.
Fake fan.
