Hmmm, I'm not sure. It didn't come off as a joke to me? Mathew, it was a joke! It’s pretty obvious. Come on mate! Seriously! I think I was on my period.

Random thought, but that's what this thread is for right?
The MJ musical is finally coming to Jacksonville in April 2025. With the biopic coming in the same month, it's gonna be a very heavy MJ month in our house. Even more so than usual lol

I had seen that podcast had done an episode comparing MJ and Kanye with a "Could you seperate art from an artist" discussion that so many other podcasts like to do but when Vogel posted about his appearances, I bookmarked it I was somewhat interested but honestly, knowing the guest host's stance REALLY taints it because it often comes with them framing things in that light. Kills the enjoyment for me at times. Is she on the second episode? No, she is only on the first episode. They don’t really touch on the allegations past the 20 min mark and the host makes sure to use the word “alleged” when mentioning the controversy. I was so close to shutting it off too when she mentioned she thinks he’s guilty and they briefly get into the “separate art from artist” debate, but the conversation moves quickly to the music and she surprisingly was a good guest when it came to her music history knowledge so it was a good listen overall, if you can get past her initial ignorance. The host has a more neutral stance, but I wouldn’t say he thinks MJ is innocent, I think he is just treading lightly. Idk. It’s always tough listening/watching MJ related things by non MJ fans or casual fans because I am just waiting and expect someone to say something ignorant. But i’m trying not to let an ignorant comment or opinion cloud other opinions they might have. It’s v tough though. Especially when you can tell for as much as they know, they STILL didn't do the most with research. There were parts where I had to re-listen and say "What?" She incorrectly gave the credit of bringing the J5 to Motown to Gladys Knight (Knight tried but was ignored because she wasn't considered a priority act at the label) and of course, her stance on LN and trying to shoehorn it into certain parts of the conversation was grating. Also, I've never liked how people regard the Jackson 5 discography or that period of his career like it's less substantial

The podcast series has seemingly smart and educated guests but they definitely have major blind spots in their knowledge of MJ (besides Joe Vogel). Mainly that they can’t fathom the possibly that he could have been falsely accused so they just go with the old “separate the great art from the complicated man” trope. My issue with that concept is why wouldn’t that appreciation for his art and his historical context make you want to dig deeper? Why is it somehow easier to wrap their head around him being sinister versus any other possibility? I mean I have my theory why but I won’t get into it. Anyway, I only listened to the first 3 episodes. The last ep covers everything post Thriller which means they will only scratch the surface of the most personal and creative output in his career. I think they get into the allegations more in depth too, so I’ll definitely pass. I enjoyed the first 3 episodes for the most part though, besides a handful of ignorant comments, it was pretty interesting to hear mostly good conversation about his legacy and work from somewhat musically and historically adept people.

Synchronized swimming or rhythmic gymnastics never disappoint in including MJ's music! 😍🤩
I love her outfit! 😍

I especially love the In the Closet choice - the fact that it's not one of the obvious songs from MJ.
A lot of MJ routines so far at the Olympics. Great to see it!

The Thriller routine in the above tweet is not available any more, so I'm posting it from another account.

You can't see the routine I posted? I still can, in case it's not available for everyone but Claro Sports is the official channel broadcasting the Olympics for Latin America.
I'm obsessed with Taissia's outfit, it screams Thriller and rhythmic gymnastics at the same time! 😍❤️

One of the breakdancers performed to PYT aswell. Funny if i didnt go on twitter or here i wouldnt know. You can bet the MSM would be beating on about it if other certain artists were getting so much love by the athletes

You can bet the MSM would be beating on about it if other certain artists were getting so much love by the athletes That was Salif who is a street dancer known to do MJ routines. I don't think he and his partner were a part of the competition but were rather hired to entertain during breaks. I have seen them earlier during fencing breaks as well.
