Truthers? As opposed to Liars? I'll take that! I will too! They feel threatened. Otherwise they wouldn't have wasted their time.

Hilarious how the term "truther" is used as an insult. I'll take the truth over bullshit any day, thanks.

I don't think they expected people to fight back like they do and that with FACTS and court documents. The media did not to their homework on this case like we did, but since there is no real journalism any more, instead of acknowledging that they try to discredit us with ad hominems.
I answered to this article's author in this Twitter thread (for some reason it's broke into two parts). Click on them to read the whole thread!

We as a fanbase have been very inconvenient for them and they feel threatened by it. I think many people underestimate Michael's fans. Dan Reed and HBO/Ch4 really believed this was going to be D-day for Michael Jackson and that there would be noone left defending him. I remember reading a tweet from one journalist who watched LN at Sundance saying "the jig is up for the defenders of Jackson's innocence", as if we are completely unaware of what Wade and James have been alleging in court for half a decade. The only people unaware up until now have been the mainstream media, and they didn't count on his fans countering the allegations with factual inconsistencies and inconvenient truths. So when it appears the emperor has no clothes, they pull the loon card on us, because they can't fight back with anything substantial.

It makes sense (beyond just the Weinstein thing) why Oprah would get involved. They need somebody on their side whom many people seem to respect and trust. If Oprah says he's guilty, then by god he must be guilty! And they say Michael had too much power? I agree- I don't think they counted on people- fans or not- to do their homework. I've been seeing more and more comments from people saying that they aren't even fans, but they have done just basic research and know he's innocent and the media is full of shit.

And notice how this article did not have one factual argument to refute what fans say. It is all jus "cult" this, "truthers" that. Just a bunch of ad hominems and trying to discredit and shame people who dare to have a different opinion than the media party line.
He tried a little with the whole "maybe this fan reaction is why accusers settle" but I refuted that with how the Chandlers behaved, feeding the media etc.

So this is a new technique of article writing now, is it? Take all the valid questions and inconsistencies that fans have raised, chuck them all together in one article, subtley imply that the people saying this stuff are deranged/unstable, but not offer a single solitary argument to refute any of it.

Right now I see, this gutter media decides that if we want to defend our icon from baseless lies and crap, they have to draw our mental health into question. I would say its the opposite, I think they have mental health issues for even thinking that Michael could be guilty.
I love how they use the mash ups of Michael's face circa 2003/04 mugshot era to ring home the point, rather than shown him in say 1983 or 1987 when he was a global icon, but in 2004 when the world was nearly as rabidly against him as they are now.
