Dan Reed’s obsession with Michael will be his undoing. He’s Tom Sneddon in 2.0. He is obsessed. I think he was expecting LN to be a death knell to MJs career and that he would be basking in the glow of exposing this huge cover up to the public, like some Ronan Farrow/Harvey Wienstein type shit. He didn't factor into the equation that there are people who've been following MJs case for decades who are far more knowledgeable and informed about them than he is. I think he found it embarrassing being called out on all his inaccuracies and bias and instead of holding his hands up and saying "I fucked up", he has dug his heels in and become more determined than ever. He'll keep getting mad, because he's on the wrong side and the more liars speak, the more they reveal themselves. And boy, am I here for it. I will bathe in his tears.

What he's doing is very similar to what the Trump crowd have done in the States. Ignore the facts and carry on as usual because the majority of your followers will believe what you say. I honestly don't think the Estate will win $100 million, but I would hope that their actual intention from the get-go was to expose what went on in the offices behind LN and how facts were put to the side for this film.

I think this is a bad look for him. Any serious documentary maker wouldn't get so invested in this. He is supposed to be somewhat independent as a doc maker, but now he basically took on the role of being Wade and James's PR person. He made LN, that would be it and he would move on if he was any serious film maker. Whatever happened to his next project about super bugs? Instead he keeps obsessing about a man who is dead for 10 years. He also wouldn't take it on himself to try to explain away lies such as the train station, arguing about it with fans on Twitter. He would just say "that's up to James to explain". Instead he is trying to explain it for him. His personal investment of it makes him look very unprofessional.
And what is the social value in making LN2? It just looks like petty "revenge" and obsessive by Reed and the MJ haters at Channel 4 for not being able to completely ruin MJ like they hoped LN would. Even if someone believes in MJ's guilt what is the point in beating this dead horse over and over again? The guy is dead for 10 years, what are you hoping to accomplish? That people dig up his bones and burn them? It looks completely and unnecessarily obsessive. And exploitative, because he knows no superbug or any other doc with any other theme will give him the same attention again as what MJ's name and fame gave him. Because LN was sold on MJ's fame and name, not on it actually being a great docu or Reed being a great film maker. With all the hunger for salacious gossip on MJ, at one point the general public too will ask: what's the actual point here? Robson and Safechuck told their "truth" for 4 hours in LN. What's the point in making a sequel with these two? There is such a thing as overdoing something. A sequel will make Wade and James look like, even to the general public, that they are milking it for fame and attention. Not to mention that the public will actually learn there is a monetary motive here, ie. a lawsuit, that was kind of downplayed in LN. So it may as well backfire.

Agree respect but the problem for us is no one in the media will expose exactly what you have just said about reed and his obsession. I think most ppl dont care as mjs not here/made their minds up. and the general public seem to have become more cynical with accusers because of the me too obsession. Imo its back fired to a large extent. But it will always be a losing battle because the media will lie and twist like they have with the public arbitration and will never allow the facts and the truth to be heard in the same way as the lies

HBO had the Hungarian version of Lies of Leaving Neverland removed from a Hungarian streaming service called Videa. Of course, citing "copyright issues", but that's just the excuse I am sure. In fact, they haven't managed to remove Lies of LN from YT (including the Hungarian version) due to the American fair use doctrine. On the Hungarian streaming site the probably take advantage of the fact that we don't have a fair use doctrine. In any case, they attempt to silence criticism of LN in any way they can. Then they turn around and talk about free speech when defending LN. Also in their use of MJ's videos in LN they also take advantage of the fair use doctrine, when it is a lot more questionable why they need to play Thriller for minutes in LN, for example. The hypocrisy.

At least Woods is alive and can sue HBO for defamation. What they did with MJ was more sinister and cynical since he's not here to defend himself, HBO took advantage the deceased loose their rights to their reputation.

It seems like this was the reason of the delay. This is horrible. Jonathan Steinsapir is a great lawyer. He represents MJ in the case against Wade and James too. I can't tell how sorry I am for them. I hope the girl pulls through and gets well.

How horrific to hear indeed. It must be devastating for Molly's parents but I hope the doctors can save her. Poor girl, so young and being between life and death but scumbags Michael was pestered by get to live long lives.

Michael Jackson’s estate wins appeal in ‘Leaving Neverland’ suit against HBO A federal appeals court panel sided with Michael Jackson’s estate Monday and said HBO must arbitrate a dispute over its Emmy-winning 2019 documentary “Leaving Neverland.” The estate sued HBO for $100 million in March 2019, saying the documentary violated a broad non-disparagement provision included in a 1992 deal to air Jackson’s “Live in Bucharest” concert from his “Dangerous” tour. A lower court ordered the case to arbitration last year, but HBO appealed, saying the 1992 contract had expired and had no “continuing validity.”The decision Monday from the 9th Circuit rejected the appeal and said arbitration should decide whether or not the estate’s claims deserve a remedy.“When analyzing the arbitration agreement, as a matter of federal law, any doubts concerning the scope of arbitrable issues should be resolved in favor of arbitration,” the three-judge panel wrote in the ruling. The court found that the 1992 contract included “detailed and stringent confidentiality provisions explicitly restraining HBO ‘either during or after HBO’s contact’ with Jackson from disclosing ‘any information relating to … [his] personal life.’” The estate took issue with “Leaving Neverland” claiming Jackson abused children on his “Dangerous” tour and with the documentary using footage from “Live in Bucharest.” “An arbitration clause can still bind the parties, even if the parties fully performed the contract years ago,” the panel wrote. Judges Richard Paez, Lawrence VanDyke and Karin J. Immergut stressed they were not ruling on the substance of the estate’s claims, only the right of estate lawyers to make their case in arbitration.
“We may only identify whether the parties agreed to arbitrate such claims; it is for the arbitrator to decide whether those claims are meritorious,” the panel wrote. HBO can appeal the ruling to the full 9th Circuit. “Leaving Neverland” tells the story of Wade Robson and James Safechuck, two former child performers who say Jackson groomed and sexually abused them as minors. The estate previously tried to get HBO to drop the project and compared its airing to a “public lynching.” www.aol.com/michael-jackson-estate-wins-appeal-202900184.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAMvCcAo_HfEC1NSDJW_uOr2TrW8a9r2LmqkHMwXbTp3Wx4Ourh6piMKyO1VO2niF1KCbciXxIoOylpn9iAzTlBRSerO1XtQj1waePads6wVh5QQ2Uxq7JasSAnqi6DQAJ7UPhMCmw2s0wL6N5j36ZV5Smq9TWGLVObpLcJQNafDn
