I try not to get bothered by others opinions on MJ, mainly because I know what I believe and don't need anyone elses validation to strengthen that. But it is hard sometimes, not to let it get to you. The sheer injustice of it sometimes gets to me and I find myself getting wound up about it.
Even with strangers on the internet, it still irks me sometimes when I read comments calling him a pedophile etc. It's not something my friends or family tend to bring up, as I think they know better than to get into that discussion with me.
How do you guys deal with this and does it bother you the way it does me?

How do you guys deal with this and does it bother you the way it does me? It bothers me a lot actually. But I'm not angry at them (unless they deliberately insult him) for thinking that he was guilty. Most people aren't interested enough in MJ to do some research. Can't really blame them for thinking it is true when 90% of the news about MJ are negative. But if there is any chance I can convince them (with some facts) I'll do it of course.

^^ I've actually fallen out with people before about MJ. I was known as the weird MJ freak at school!

I've been very upset by people in the past who have spoken horribly about Michael. I've put time and energy into learning about the allegations and feel confident in his innocence ... So when I hear someone who believes he's 100% guilty based on nothing but tabloid headlines and gossip, it really does frustrate and upset me.
I haven't fallen out with anyone close to me over it but I've certainly gotten into heated debates to defend MJ.

It still bothers me. Other day in work a guy asked me how I met my missus and I told him our MJ story and although he reacted ok you could see the look on his face. I'm usually very guarded about my personal life and MJ because I just hate going through it time and again. The name "Michael Jackson" is such a trigger for some people. It can get you down from time to time.

I don't discuss MJ unless its a fan or someone who brings him up in a positive way. I hate saying this but I feel emotionally scared from having the verbal shit kicked out of me.

I feel for you, Aazaabb. I've been there. I've been in tears before hearing stuff said about MJ.

Yes, it upsets me, but I honestly can't be bothered to discuss it with anyone. If someone brings it up with me, which it's rare nowadays, I just ignore it

Nah, I went the other way with it. I got a fucking tattoo of MJ on my arm! I wear it like a badge of honour. I remember when the TII shows were announced, I was at a friends birthday party and we were discussing going to see the show. Some snotty nosed bitch in the corner made her disdain known and I spent the rest of the party giving her dirty looks and talking very loudly about why MJ was a misunderstood genius. Still wanna smack her one when I think of that bitch!

I very rarely come across negative opinions of him anymore, but back in the day there were a lot. I never fell out with anyone, as it wasn’t people I was usually close to, and I learnt a long time ago not to waste your life on negativity.
I usually give a few killer facts if it does become a discussion.

I have my tattoo and I'm very proud to be a fan but somethings you just feel "let it go. Get over it." Even without the allegations people in general seem to have a lot of hatred for artists they don't like. Plenty of examples on here. That said, you're giving me my mojo back. I might wear an MJ t-shirt to work next week just to liberate myself.

Seeing random people on the internet spout nonsense irritates me because 1. MJ's legacy and that he's innocent. 2. As the BS can spread to others with no knowledge of the cases and 3. It shows just how much power the media have when stories, in which common sense should prevail (i.e. the child porn story and FBI having evidence of numerous pay offs), are believed.

I usually give a few killer facts if it does become a discussion. This basically is me with people I know. It used to bother me years ago, and sometimes it still can a lil bit but now I do my best to not let it because at the end of the day, I know the truth, all the evidence backs me up and that’s ultimately what matters. Thankfully it’s been years since I’ve talked to anyone who believes he’s guilty and felt passionate enough to bring it up, and I’ve had many MJ convos over the years. As for strangers? I don’t see the point in getting upset because some random fuckwit who I’ll never ever meet thinks Michael Jackson is guilty. Like who cares? You can’t spend your life worrying about what some stranger thinks.

I have my tattoo and I'm very proud to be a fan but somethings you just feel "let it go. Get over it." Yeah. I’ve come to accept that you can’t convince everyone, and that’s not just with MJ but a lot of topics in general. It’ll never stop me showing off my love for MJ, though I don’t rub it in anyone’s face... but that’s not exclusive to MJ either. Even without the allegations people in general seem to have a lot of hatred for artists they don't like. Plenty of examples on here. Yeah, it’s bizaare to me tbh. Especially that thread that popped up yesterday.
