Russg I dig Janet and think she is worthy of this accolade (although there are others who arent in the HOF who I think deserved it before her). But she has everything to thank Michael for and therefore should be his loudest, most vocal supporter, but she hasn't shown any support publicly since 1995. I don't buy into the whole Jackson party line of her not wanting to add extra publicity to the documentary. She is remaining silent to protect her own public image. There's nothing wrong with that, but don't pretend you're doing it for some noble reason when you're really just saving your own skin.

Well Janet was never the one who said she didn't talk publicly about MJ for that reason. That came from Taj.
At the end of the day, it can't be easy being Janet and having to deal with the public backlash of her brother every five minutes. She has defended him in the past, both in 93 and 05 when it truly counted. MJ fans need to lay off and gives her a break.
The RNRHOF was a long time coming for Janet and was a celebration of her accomplishments in the industry. We should let her have that and be proud of all she's done rather than dragging it back to be about Michael all the time.

I'm primarily an MJ fan, MJ is where my loyalty lies and MJ is the one I care about. I'm not judging her for not speaking out, but at the same I'm not going to be cheering her on for acting as if her brothers professional and personal legacy hasn't just been through the ringer. She's taken the easy road, like so many celebrities who were all up in MJs ass when he died and suddenly go quiet when his name is under attack. I get why they're doing it, but I respect the ones who don't cower away from bad press and stand up for what they believe is right over the likes of Janet. I don't seem to recall many people jumping to Janet's defense in 2005 during the Superbowl debacle, yet MJ did, even during the darkest time of his life. But then MJ never pandered to the press, was never afraid of standing up for what he believed in and never pretended to be anything he wasn't.

"Janet Jackson made no direct mention of Michael Jackson in her Rock and Roll of Hall of Fame induction speech, save for collective praise of all her brothers. She also sadly did not perform after her remarks (breaking induction tradition, as did the two members of Radiohead who showed up). Variety now reports that Jackson opted out of performing because she did not wish to appear further on HBO, the network which recently aired a damning documentary alleging her brother, Michael, abused two underage boys. The Rock Hall induction ceremony is typically taped and broadcast at a later date on HBO; this year’s induction airs on April 27." www.vulture.com/2019/03/janet-jackson-didnt-perform-at-rock-hall-because-of-mj-doc.html

Lets face it, Janet was in an impossible situation with her acceptance speech. If she mentioned MJ she would've been bashed and if she didn't, again, she would get it in the neck.
It was a no win situation for her.

I definitely liked her acceptance speech. Kudos to her, too, for the shout out to Dick Clark and Don Cornelius. Also, whether or not it was intentional, she really stuck it to HBO by not performing. The old RRHOF induction shows on cable were terrible-ran for hours and were so boring. Since HBO took them over, they've been edited and quite entertaining. HBO won't have much of a show this year. Lol.

After his death when they tried to speak up they were attacked and called greedy by many fans. Janet supported him unequivocally in 2005 as well. Janet has had her share of recent bad press in the media within the past few years. The whole thing about her divorce, the Les Moonves situation and more recently the Bobby Brown BS. Janet doesn’t speak to press if at all. When his family did try to speak they were spoken down too. At the end of the day, this affects them far more than us. She also performed Scream recently in Tom Joyner’s cruise.

And like you said, she's had her own share of crap, although I would argue it's nothing compared to what MJ has had to face. I guess it's just strange seeing people like Diana Ross, P Diddy and Aaron Carter defending him and not his own sister. I know she has stood by him in the past, but he's dead now, and not able to defend himself, so in that respect, he needs his families support more than ever.
