"you know you don’t get hired if you can’t actually do the job, right? that’s what castings and auditions are for. i get roles as an actor because i earned it. and gigs as a model because i’m fu*king good at it." Paris Jackson is the latest nepotism kid to pretend nepotism hasn't played a role in her career. After tweeting "the term 'model' is so loose these days smh" MTV Canada talk show host Alex Illest tweeted "yeah some people dad famous so they crack into the biz effortlessly" Paris responded by saying she wouldn't get work if she couldn't do the job, and then asked what his talent was, guessing that he was a DJ or reality show star. Her fans came to her defense, accusing the man of jealousy and lamenting that people don't recognize Paris' hard work. Here she is in the VH1 Scream mini-series. She's no Drew Barrymore: www.youtube.com/watch?v=myyfgKQ2imsShe really needs to get that being the daughter of one of the most famous, popular and influential musicians who ever walked the planet opens many doors and that's one of the hardest parts of showbiz, getting your foot in the door.

I think Paris is kind of missing the point. Nobody is saying she isn't good at what she does (I haven't seen her acting and how hard can it really be to model?). The point is, the hardest part about even getting auditions and castings is getting people to give you a chance. If she doesn't think being MJs daughter has opened certain doors for her then she is seriously deluded.

By that logic, Paris Hilton got a record deal also because of her musical talent.

You can imagine the sycophants surrounding her, all telling her how fabulous an actor/model she is, and that it's definitely not about being Michael's daughter. Add to that all her fans, and the fact that she's only 21, she probably genuinely believes it to be true. Ask her again when she's 40 and she'll probably agree that the name at the very least opened many doors for her.
I believe one of the Kardashian/Jenner girls said much the same thing, as did whichever Beckham kid suddenly got himself a book deal to publish his photographs. It's only natural that they all want to believe they're special and talented rather just than brandable exploitable name.

Paris can be a little annoying but I hope she matures with time. It's pretty delusional for her to think her father's name isn't the reason why she's getting all these opportunities. Hopefully she'll grow out of it.

If Paris didn't have her celebrity status from being MJ's daughter there's no way she'd even get inside an audition room. Half the battle in acting is just landing auditions. Unknown actors submit for dozens or hundreds of roles every week, and getting called in for even 10% of the roles you apply for is considered good progress. Not to mention almost all acting auditions are invitation-only, big roles tend to be straight offers, and the bigger CDs make their breakdowns available only to certain agents (and getting a good acting agent is actually harder than landing acting roles). Most actors from ordinary backgrounds can't even apply for most of the decent roles being cast, yet celeb offspring will often get offered representation and auditions without a single credit! They're starting from halfway up the ladder, yes they still have a long way to climb, but those of us who started from the bottom rung have to run to catch up. And we can all think of celebs who keep getting cast despite being pisspoor actors.

I know this satire and tongue in cheek but what mjfan said reminded of this short. I imagine castings are as close to dehumanizing as this or worse. If Paris has been able to go on auditions that easily, being a Jackson has been a huge factor. Janet entered the business more easily for the same reason.
Prince is definitely more mature and centered than his sister.
