May be losing my mind but hasn't someone posted this poll before?
Anyway, not just saying this for effect but Madonna. I love that ballad from her.
Produced by David Foster who amongst other things co-produced Earth Song.
Isn't Janet's written by Randy, and was it on a Jackson's album, or am I making that up?
Michael's OMC is undoubtedly his worst single ever. Bloody R Kelly. That man's done some bad things.

I think writing OMC is pretty low down on the list of bad things done by R Kelly. lol And yes, Janet's is a cover of a song from Victory. I actually like all three of these songs, but would probably rank them: 1. MJ 2. Madonna 3. Janet

Michael's OMC is undoubtedly his worst single ever. I give you Girlfriend, Cry, Gone Too Soon and PYT. I like OMC. But Madonna's is better.

It was the only Dangerous single not to go top 15 in the UK, so I think the general public agreed with me. Didn't even go top 30. Anyways, Madonna is the clear winner of this poll.

Anyways, Madonna is the clear winner of this poll. In all fairness, it was: The 8th single from an album that everyone owned. The first single after the allegations. But yes, not sure it was single material in all fairness. I remember being VERY surprised at the time.

But yeah, the allegations wouldn't have helped GTS, although I couldn't see it being a massive hit even if it was released early on in the Dangerous campaign. It was mad how many singles they released from Bad/Dangerous. Also Janet followed suit with RN1814 and janet. I remember feeling really short-changed a few years later when History/Ghosts was the last single from HIStory. I wonder why Madonna and Prince didn't follow suit also, as it was a winning strategy for the Jacksons in the late 80s/early 90s.

I don't think many Madonna albums have 5 or 6 singles worth of quality in them in all fairness. (shock, horror Tony makes an anti-Madge comment!). The ones that do she got a few singles from (True Blue, Like A Prayer, Erotica all had 5 I think?). But from her 90's albums post Erotica, Bedtime Stories only had 4 & rightly so. Then that was it until RoL which again had 5 I think - Frozen, RoL, Power of Goodbye, Nothing Really Matters, Drowned World). For Prince I guess by the time he was on his 3rd single he'd already released a new album.

The Janet one doesn't really count since it's a cover of a Jacksons song...

For Prince I guess by the time he was on his 3rd single he'd already released a new album. Yeah, Prince was definitely too impatient for that. I remember when he released the triple disc Emancipation and said he was going to release 18 singles, thinking "yeah right." We got two. Madge had a couple of album cuts that could've been singles off those albums you mentioned. Survival and Forbidden Love from Bedtime Stories would've worked. ROL could've added Skin and Sky Fits Heaven. To be fair, Janet was scraping the barrel when she started releasing songs like "Because Of Love." I just think she wasn't going to be outdone by her brother. It's testament to the quality of albums like Bad and Dangerous that they had the audacity to release so many (mostly successful) singles. It's also testament to an album like HIStory that they could release five singles and still have album tracks at the standard and quality of Tabloid Junkie, 2 Bad, Smile and Little Susie. Man, I miss the days when album campaigns were really 2-3 year eras, instead of this shitty idea of releasing all the singles upfront and watching the album die a slow death a couple of weeks after it's released.

Quite right. The weird thing about Janet releasing 'Because of Love' was it was only the 3rd single from janet (unless my memory is failing me) i.e. before the superb You Want This and Anytime, Any place. Never sure why Throb wasn't a single. But yeah, those 2/3 year campaigns.... I guess apart from the quality of those albums, attention spans are less these days. Plus they have these teams working on albums so can just churn them out before the public move onto the next thing. Love them or loathe them, I guess only Adele & Ed Sheeran work in that way now?
