One of the most painful interviews I’ve ever watched.
He claims to remember his exact whereabouts from 18 years ago on the exact night he was accused of raping Virginia Roberts. He says he couldn’t have done it because he was in a Pizza Express in Woking.
Unbelievable.
And another brilliantly hilarious defence is that he couldn’t have had a sweaty sexual encounter (one of Virginia Roberts accusations) because he didn’t sweat in 2001. Yes, he seriously said that.
I love this:
Tweet of the night, though, might go to the Pizza Express account, about the chain suddenly going viral and being bombarded by messages to 'check Twitter now'.
Prince Andrew's revelation of having eaten at the pizza restaurant on a fateful night 18 years ago led to a spate of new online reviews for the eatery.
One reviewer wrote: 'Love this place. I had a cracking pizza here in 2001. I remember it was 2001 because it was very strange the guy next to me had an American Hot pizza with extra chillies... not a drop of sweat came off him. Very odd.'

😂 this might save pizza express as they were in danger of collapse in October due to debts, honestly you couldn’t make it up 🤣

I had never seen a person who repeatedly blinked in a matter of seconds. It was so weird to watch but it made him look as guilty as fuck. I may be wrong to not give him the presumption of innocence but there was no confidence in what the Prince said whatsoever.
I want to be wrong so badly, though, it's always heartbreaking, abhorrent and abominable especially when children and minors turned out to be victims of sexual abuse.

I don't think Andrew is a particularly malicious or insidious guy, but he's obviously a terrible judge of character and painfully out of touch (the same could be be said of most of the second string Royals). I wouldn't be surprised if he's shuffled off to Mauritius or Singapore to "promote trade" for the rest of his life.

I've been working like a dog but am going to watch this tonight. I hear it's must-see TV. You don't need to be a PR expert to know that this was a terrible decision to go ahead with this interview, but he's put himself in the crosshairs of the lions den, so it's bound to blow up in his face. In terms of good optics, it would've been far wiser for Prince Andrew to appear to maintain a dignified silence on the subject, rather than making it must-see TV and bringing it to the attention of people who never cared about it before now.
Quite how they thought this was going to go I don't know, but it has been a disaster for the royals.

I'm late to this, but I watched the interview last night.
Wow, that man should not have been allowed to do this. He comes across as if he hasn't been prepared for it, he rambles on and on, denies things that we all know are true and talks in an endless loop to defend himself- but with the most ridiculous reasons/excuses. He can't sweat? He knows exactly where he was one night 20 years ago? He just talks himself deeper & deeper into an utter MESS.
As a result I hear he's apologised to the Queen and had to step away from his royal duties. I guess it's all unravelling now.
Makes me think of MJs interviews. MJ always looked so sincere (with good eye contact), passionate and honest etc when defending himself in interviews. Prince Andrew looked shifty as hell. I've never seen anyone blink so much when talking. Insane

It was squirm-tastic. He was so bad at defending himself and just ended up tying himself up in knots.
I went into it wanting to believe him and give him the benefit of the doubt and came out of it thinking "my God, this man is a terrible liar." And it was all his own doing. They gave him some rope and he hung himself. Over and over.
