Gotta be honest I'm shocked Timberlake hasn't said - or leaked - anything yet. You know he hates Robson and really respected Michael, and he's way past his prime at this point anyway.

Apologies in advance for bringing up the race issue, but anyone else notice how very few big white celebs have spoken up in support of MJ? Madonna and Celine Dion are the only ones I can think of.Whereas MJs own race have come out in full force. Snoop, P Diddy, Spike Lee, NeYo, Diana Ross, Dave Chappelle, Missy Elliott, Janelle Monae, Sisqo, Chris Tucker, George Benson, Chuck D.... and I'm sure I've forgotten some. It's nice that MJs own race still has his back.
Let's not forget Pink and Boy George! But that's about it, indeed. I don't think it is a coincidence either, that it's the older, more mature artists who says "fuck it, I have my own mind, I won't bow down to peer pressure". I think a lot of artists are so afraid of being ostracized if they stand up for MJ, because of MeToo. Most artists exist in a liberal bubble and very much dependent at the graces of the (liberal) media. And we know what that media is pushing. Black (and some older) artists are definitely the ones who give less fucks about that.
One thing I do want to point out though.... while the liberal media has been at the front of all this, the right/conservative has also condemned Michael quite heavily, going as far back to when the trial was going on. Fox News, the top conservative news network here in the US, was the network that had Bill O'Reilly and his panel mock Michael's death and his status as a black music legend. Black artists and black people in general in the US are going to be more skeptical given our history in this country of being falsely accused and convicted for centuries. I'm not sure how often non Americans get this kind of news, but it's like EVERY DAY, a black man is acquitted after spending years in prison for a crime he didn't commit. That's why when MJ or Kobe Bryant and other celebrities get accused, we tend to say "Wait, let's see what's there...."

Yes, I know conservative/right-wing media isn't innocent either. Here where I live, one of the most disgusting articles I saw re. LN was from a right wing publication that's constantly up in the ass of our right wing, populist government. They attacked MJ in every aspect, not just re. the allegations, but it was also an excuse for them to attack him as an artist calling him kitsch among other things (you should see the "nationalist rock" these types usually like LOL). However, I don't expect much more from these nobodies. They are paid servants, who sold their soul and integrity to a populist, admittedly illiberal government. They hate everything that's different. They are racist, homophobic, misogynistic, you name it. If you think Breitbart is bad multiply it by a thousand.
But then the liberal media hasn't been much better re. MJ and that's what disappoints me. Here it was the same as everywhere else, just copying the one-sided narrative and sentiment from the Western liberal-leftist media. Ad hominems at fans, presumption of guilt etc. Since you would expect that side to be better and smarter than the blatant racists on the right, it disappoints and frustrates me a lot more.
And you have not seen one single article going against LN in the "liberal"/leftist mainstream media. While Breitbart actually had one. As well as Fox News reported on Lies of LN. Putin's RT also published articles critical of the LN phenomenon. Unimaginable from the leftist mainstream media at this point. Think about that! Now, I'm not delusional, I know those right wing publications aren't allies of MJ, they probably have their own opportunitstic reasons - eg. to point out the hypocrisy and dogmatic thinking of the "liberal" left media, but hey, they have a good point there.
BTW, I'm not right wing, just calling a spade a spade. I'm disgusted by the post truth, postmodernist thinking in the leftist media. And not just the media but the whole Democratic party shifting in this left extremist direction. If I was in the USA I seriously wouldn't know who to vote for, because I'm disgusted by both sides.

Timberlake is exactly the type I would expect to lay low and not say a word when shit hits the fan. Didn't he throw Janet under the bus? Enough said.
Oh BTW, Britney on the other hand did post that video of her dancing to MJ's music.

Agree on the whole. However, the black celebrities mentioned aren't exactly young up and comers. More likely to be an age related thing given that younger people are more exposed to the entire Me Too ethos. And, as a result, are much more influenced by it during their most formative years. The celebrities mentioned are both well past their formative years and clearly well past trying to establish themselves in their careers. However, it's also not like Michael wasn't abandoned by a lot of black Americans over the years as well as white Americans. That clearly happened.

So it seems MTV dropped the MJ name for the ceremony, but Missy Elliott made a deliberate point of referring to the award by its full title:

Considering the reach and potential audience, is Chappelle the biggest fuck you to LN?

Jason Lee calling Robson for what he is compensated for Ice T's and Toddrick Hall's political correctness. It gave me life like Dave Chapelle's "I don't believe these mother fuckers" comment. I need to watch his special.

When has he ever shown himself to be anything but a fairweather fan of the Jacksons? Agreed. In 2003-2005 Prince was his biggest inspiration but in the World Music Awards, 2006 he mentioned MJ again as such. At least with Janet he admitted on interview she was unfairly treated with the Superbowl fiasco.

The Sun are now spinning “Dave Chappelle’s Vile Comments” or something to that effect. It would be great if more and more MJ supporters speak up very frankly about this and just call this shit out.

Considering the reach and potential audience, is Chappelle the biggest fuck you to LN? How long until we hear Robson say something about how "it's unfortunate he said that" or whatever crap he keeps saying when things don't go his way and the media rings him up to get a "poor me" quote? Good on Chappelle, Missy and others for staying real in all of this.
