Just finished. Well done man! Really enjoyed that, it flew. Very prefessional. Music was good except for that shit MJ song 😂 Will be listening again! Awesome. Thank you for the kind words! We'll have a new episode out every Monday and hoping to grow it. LOL on MJ Going forward, we may actually leave the songs themselves out just so we don't come up against the copyright thing when being shared on other platforms. I can circle back to that later if it grows enough. In any case, thanks again for the listen and feedback. Hopefully you enjoy the upcoming episodes too Was surprised it took a whole 17 minutes before MJ was mentioned 😂 Really enjoyed it though, as I say it flew too, which is a good sign! I think it would benefit from just you guys talking, although I did like the other 2 tunes. That first band were class, and that rnb cowboy lad. Great tunes. Have you much lined up to discuss? I assume you'll be tackling Climate Change and Harry and Meghan?

Going forward we are going to leave the songs out and just have the talking. The idea being that hopefully we'll talk with enough enthusiasm so that people go look up the songs or artists we're discussing. We're looking to do one topic per episode, with one episode per week. I scrubbed down a bunch of topics that I think would sustain at least one episode and I have over 55 so I'm hoping that carries us through the first year. Next week's topic is the first concerts each of us went to, so it should be fun to talk about.

Loving this podcast, and agree with your point about people who say “there’s no good Rock anymore or there’s no good Country anymore....” etc.
I like your idea on Elvis too. I’ve gotten into Elvis in the last 5 or 6 years or so and liking Elvis seems to open up liking a ton of different music genres, although I liked a shit ton of different stuff before I got into Elvis so maybe it works both ways; liking Elvis opens up liking other music, liking other music opens up liking Elvis.
I need to hang with you sometime Russ. I just love your whole philosophy and background in music.
Plus you’ve got a record store in your basement!
“The Collective Works of Shaggy!” 😭🤣😂👍🏼

Thank you so much for the kind words! We've had a lot of positive feedback which is very encouraging. I'm very fired up to record the next episode this Saturday. I've got enough topics lined up to carry us through the first year with one topic and episode per week, so I'm hoping it keeps going well Oh... And if you're ever near Detroit, feel free to hit me up!

I hope you guys talk a bit about when MTV was actually a music TV channel! My mate back in Ireland who has a record shop is always talking about how streaming has destroyed how Bands/Artists make a living. And then these VIP packages! Great job on this first episode Russ, and looking forward to the next one. I’m in!

I assume you'll be tackling Climate Change and Harry and Meghan? The 3 tracks were top notch! I really loved that first one, had a sort of a Motown vibe and the Country track had a bit of a Beck vibe. And Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’ never fails to blow me away.

Great job on this first episode Russ, and looking forward to the next one. I’m in! Thanks again. Yeah, Walk This Way w/ Run DMC reminds of when MTV really hit mainstream. I remember when it was in its infancy, our "rich" cousins had MTV before anyone I knew of. The channel was almost running the same 3 videos all day, or at least that's what it seemed like to me lol. One of my biggest MTV memories is seeing the Beat It video for the first time. I thought Michael looked like the coolest person on the planet with that jacket, whicb is why I spent so long looking for am exact replica. I finally got it in my mid 40s, but I'm so happy to have it! In any case, this week's topic is Our First Concerts. My first concert was a VERY heavy staple on MTV, so I'm sure we'll get into that this week.

Some of my first MTV memories are Van Helen’s Jump, Peter Gabriel’s Sledge Hammer, George Harrison’s Got My Mind Set On You and Prince’s Kiss. And Obviously Beat It and Thriller by that guy! Also groups like Twisted Sister, Motley Crew, and solo Ozzy.

I was (am) a huge Van Halen fan but I didn't get to see them in concert til 91 and my first concert was a few years before that. I didn't get to see them with David Lee Roth until 2011, but it was great.

Must have been great to see Van Halen with David Lee Roth. It’s the only way I’d like to see them. Shout out to Billy Idol as I’m at it.

I saw them at least 3 times with Sammy and they were really good to be honest. Dave is my guy though, so I was so excited to get to see that. I saw them 4 or 5 times with Dave when he came back.
