This woman is the sister of one of Ben's friends. She's talking about Scientology and what she thinks Ben's issues were.
Basically she says he struggled to find his own identity in Elvis's shadow.
This is why I'd like MJ fans leave Paris alone. IMO she too is looking for her way, to establish her identity outside of MJ and we should just let her. Yes, she is talking nonsense or annoying things sometimes - like when she said or liked tweets something along the lines of how she has established her name on her own. MJ fans were annoyed by it, and yes, it is ridiculous and we all know she wouldn't have all this attention, modelling contract, media interviews to promote her music etc. if she wasn't MJ's daughter. But I can see why she is trying to get away from that shadow and fans should be a bit more easy on her IMO. They shouldn't preach to her about how MJ wouldn't approve of her smoking, cursing, sexuality or whatever. If you don't like her, fine, but just let her be IMO. Yes, Prince and Bigi seem to be fine in that big shadow, more unaffected than Paris, but then people are different. Riley seems to do fine too, establishing her own career and all. Meanwhile Ben, it seems, struggled.
And number two, it also made me think of how maybe it is better that MJ and Lisa didn't have kids together. It's a burden enough, it seems, to be a Jackson or a Presley, but imagine the scrutiny and pressure and expectations all the time on a Jackson-Presley kid!

'The sister of one of Ben's friends'...well she must be the oracle on him then and what his issues were. 2 days after his death and she thinks its okay to pontificate on the poor guy's mental health. If people like that can't see they're part of the problem then I dispair.

Agree. Very weird. If someone met him randomly they arent going to know he was elvis grandchild. Its not like it was his dad and hed spent years in the limelight. hes been dead 40 odd years.Reaching and pontificating. To do that you have to have huge mental health problems. Its not cause ppl were waiting on you to be the next elvis.but i guess thats the easy version

Yikes... the fans certainly aren't helping in that regard. I don't keep up with the kids because I feel that it's none of my business. I didn't even know Paris was doing music until just recently, and honestly, good for her on finding her own path into that. God knows if she tried to do mainstream pop like Michael the pressure would be soul-crushing.

I don't know to what extent the woman in the video above speculated about Benjamin or his mental health but what she said about Scientology is true.
The methods Scientology use to "treat" mental illnesses in general, addictions, homosexuality, etc are highly questionable, negligent and downright dangerous depending on the severity of the issue. It's not a secret parishioners end up getting worse if they seek help from the organization. The fact L. Run Hubbard demonized psychiatry as a whole gives an idea how insane the cult is.
I don't know if Ben felt he was under the shadow of Elvis but it's true Scientology strip their members away from tools that might actually help them.

This song Lisa wrote about her son. It's heartbreaking to listen to now. Love that whole album. I once tweeted LMP about how much I loved this record, she liked it and then Lady Gaga retweeted it!!! That's my little claim to fame. It's not much, but I'm telling the grandkids...

^ I really think people sleep on her music. It is a good album IMO. I wonder if a famous father can be a blessing and a curse at the same time when it comes to one's career? A blessing, because obviously you get opportunities, PR in the media easier, at the same time I feel you have to prove yourself double as much to remove people's skepticism as to why you are there. I don't know if that's the reason. Or that she got into music relatively late and this is an ageist industry, teenagers (who usually pick up new artists) just didn't relate to her because of her age? Either way I feel people sleep on this album.
This is sadly relevant now too.

Absolutely. I also love her first album To Whom It May Concern. Lights Out was a great single and the album opener SOB has always been a favourite. Her second album Now What was also decent, although not as strong as the other two. Always loved the song Raven from that album. She is underrated for sure. I really admire that she took her time to make a record, rather that rushing it. I can't help but wonder if Paris hasn't really spent enough time honing her craft before putting out her first record. From what I hear she has potential, but one of the coolest things about LMP was how she always did things on her own terms and in her own time. And I think it shows in the quality of the work.

That's my little claim to fame. It's not much, but I'm telling the grandkids... Thatโs pretty cool! I remember hearing clips of the album when it came out and liking it. She apparently went to uk to record it and talked about it at the time Anyways rip to Benjamin, very sad news
