Ok, it's just the curtain call, but that does look pretty bad. Reminds me of old fan parties with impersonators. Yes, I felt the same watching that, unfortunately. Myles looks awkward here and lacking snapiness in his movements, but I'll leave that there. Yup, that and the facial experessions stood out to me the most. MJ would crack a smile every now and then on stage, but he mostly looked aggressive, not happy-go-lucky. But perhaps this is, again, because it is just the curtain call. In any case, I don't envy the guy - playing MJ is an impossible task. But to me that just underlines why I wish they would move away a bit from others playing MJ (be it in a musical, for a hologram, or in the rumored biopic) and do much more with the wealth of unused footage that exists of him.

I was really hoping that it wouldn't be about MJ himself, kind of like David Bowie's "Lazarus". I would have preferred a story of a character that would go through issues with the story built on the lyrics of songs. Lazarus was amazing, but Bowie actually wrote it himself.

NYC is a 9 hours drive for me, so I'm thinking about making the drive in early spring to see this. I once drove to and from NYC over 2 days for a Guns N Roses concert, so I can make the same drive for the MJ musical, right?

Seeing one of the episodes on YT, you can see the brothers themselves do things the wrong way round and also do not seem to have noticed Michael did the twisty leg kick as opposed to the straightforward kick. It reminded me Michael could not have picked these dancers on tours for dance ability. They were better choreographers than dancers as they were always heavy footed. I agree it would have been more interesting for the musical to not have someone play MJ and to use him in the story more creatively.

Whilst I'm pleased that the musical is giving MJ some positive coverage, for me personally, seeing other people perform his songs only serves to remind me that nobody can do MJ justice but MJ.
But I don't think a hard-core fan is ever going to be completely satisfied with something like this and let's face it, we are not really the intended demographic for this musical anyway. This is for for the general public and this is probably the best possible way post-2019 to remind them of how great MJ was and what he was all about.

If any of us saw it, I think we would rip the performances apart. However, you'd have to remember what you are watching. I love a good musical, so I'd be more interested in a good story, good arrangements and great versions of the songs.

So true, I also think the estate feels that way, thatโs why they embraced this musical
