So Ryan Adams was getting desperate on Instagram the other day....
The most disturbing part of the allegations against Adams was the alleged sexual text exchanges between him and a minor, but it says in this article he was cleared of those charges.
I personally find the whole notion of cancel culture absurd. I'm all for sexual abusers being publicly outed, but until the accused in question has been tried in a court of law and they've been found to have behaved in a criminal way, then people should be allowed to continue with their lives without the stigma of being a predator automatically attached to their name. From what I can tell, I don't think Adams did anything illegal and his treatment of adult woman like Mandy Moore, whilst repugnant, was never criminal.
Ryan Adams pleads for 'a second chance to make some music' and he's close to 'losing my label, studio and my home' in deleted Instagram post
Ryan Adams sent out a desperate plea for, 'a second chance to make some music' in a now-deleted Instagram post.
The 46-year-old singer's career has been derailed since seven women, including Phoebe Bridgers and his ex-wife Mandy Moore, accused him of of sexual misconduct in February 2019.
While the singer issued a lengthy apology for his actions in July 2020, he revealed in an Instagram post on Tuesday that was later deleted that he wants a record label to give him a second chance before he loses his home.
'I know I’m damaged goods. I know I am and they aren’t the ideal thing, but I had a label interested for months and they wasted my time. I’m months from losing my label, studio and my home,' Adams began.
'I just really want a second chance to make some music — maybe help other people believe you can get up out of the gutter and be something,' he added.
'I’m 46 and scared I’m gonna be living in my sisters basement. If you are a label and interested please let me know,' Adams continued.
He added the post was, 'Sent with love and humility. I already got dropped by Capitol twice. Maybe someone still cares.
The singer said in another deleted post, 'Please if someone takes a chance on me and this music I’ll bust my ass to support it. Sorry to sound desperate.'
The desperation was also evident in other since-deleted posts from early July, when his cat Theo passed away.
'I have no record deal. I’m kinda broke. I have no friends ( ok I have my best friends for when I was a kid ) And Theo died,' he said.
He added that he has, 'a hundred songs' but he doesn't have his 'old master tapes or recordings' adding his people 'don't care.'
'SO.... If ANYBODY CAN HELP ME ... please. I would love to make albums. Or just own a home ( I don't own a home ) This is stupid. I miss Theo. I'm mad. I've had enough,' he added in the post, before it was deleted.
Adams was ultimately dropped from his label Blue Note/Capitol before creating his own label PAX AM, where he released two albums in the past eight months, Wednesdays in December and Big Colors in June.
While both of those albums have reached the charts in countries like Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands, they have not charted in the U.S. or U.K.
Bridgers and his ex-wife Moore were among seven women to speak with The New York Times in February 2019, revealing he would pursue women in an effort to help their music career, before becoming abusive.
Adams was also investigated by the FBI for a sexually-explicit online relationship with a minor, though he was cleared of those charges in January.
He released a public apology for his behavior in July 2020, though that apology came under scrutiny as well.
His ex-wife Moore revealed shortly after his lengthy statement that he should have apologized to her privately.
