Wouldn't say I was a fan, but you cannot deny her gift. And I also really loved most of the My Love Is Your Love album, particularly the Darkchild tracks.

She is one of the best female pop/R&B singers. No one has sung Star Spangled Banner like her ever since. No wonder on every American Idol type of show there are a number of female singers who aspire to sing like her. I once read that MJ said about her that she could sing the telephone book and it would still sound awesome. She was that kind of singer who could elevate a mediocre song to being amazing by the way she sang it. But the downside was that unfortunately many of her songs were just that: mediocre and her catalogue isn't as strong as some of her peers.

I love Whitney. She is one of the greatest singers and one of, if not the most, powerful vocalists ever ! As a vocalist, the evolution of her voice from the Whitney Houston album (1985) to The Bodyguard soundtrack (1992), with "Whitney"(1987) and "I am your Baby Tonight"(1990) in between, interesting. Regarding her voice, I love it the most during this period: 1987-1993. My favorite songs and covers of hers are "The Greatest Love of All", "Saving All My Love", "One Moment in Time", "I Wanna Dance With Somebody", "All the Man that I Need", "I'm Every Woman", "I have Nothing", "I Believe In You And Me" and "My Love Is Your Love". I love her duets too, with Mariah Carey, George Michael and Teddy.

Casual fan, but her greatest hits collection is one of the best.
Her best three?

Love her voice and many of her singles. It's a shame she wasn't given great material for most of her albums but an incredible singer no doubt. I love all the songs mentioned above by everyone.

I feel similar. She's a great vocalist and her voice has given me goosebumps several times, but most of the material she recorded just isn't that interesting to me, unfortunately...

I loved the soundtrack for Waiting to Exhale. It wasn't an entirely Whitney-led album, but it was a classic 90s R&B album, and the songs Exhale (Shoop Shoop) and Why Does It Hurt So Bad are amongst Whitney's finest moments.
