Once then? Surprised to see Spotify still has his music on. I wonder what will happen. I thought R Kelly was already ditched by all the major streaming services? Which is something I disagree with btw. It isn't their job to censor who their customers can listen to. No, he’s still available if you want to play him. They just won’t promote him in playlists or elsewhere. But if you search, he’s there.

Yeah, I guess its tricky as I guess if you're streaming him then you're technically making him money (albeit small amounts if streaming) Then again it’s not like he can go out and spend the money or anything. I have zero interest listening to any of his own music, but I’m not going to feel guilty because I play another artists song he was involved with… then again I rarely play his penned songs anyway.

Which is something I disagree with btw. It isn't their job to censor who their customers can listen to. Yes, I'm not for censorship and banning him from streaming platforms. It's one thing if radios decide not to play him or if his music won't be included on official Spotify playlists, but treat people like adults: everyone can decide for themselves if they want to listen to a certain artist or not, we don't need the media to control that. No one is forced to listen to him, you can avoid playing him if you don't want to, but it should be left available. I'm saying it as someone who doesn't have a single R. Kelly song on my playlists, except for the the three he wrote for MJ (which IMO all belong to the weaker part of MJ's catalog, so if radios won't play YANA any more I don't consider it a big loss, in fact, it always bothered me that it's the most played song from HIStory on radios as it doesn't give the album justice IMO - they should play Stranger in Moscow, Earth Song or TDCAU instead). But if we go down this road, what's next? Let's ditch authors from libraries who had a problematic life (including criminal or immoral behavior) or problematic views (including racism, antisemitism, misogyny etc) etc? You may be surprised at how many authors then should be banned. Including some big names. Also did they pull movies produced by Weinstein from streaming platforms? As for him making money of it: so? Is his sentence that he's not allowed to make money of his music any more? His sentence is jail. And if his victims decide to sue him, they will have more chance of gathering some compensation if he has some money than if he doesn't, don't they?

Yeah, I've often said that the RK penned songs were his 3 worst anyway (YANA isn't terrible but the other 2 are poor). Thinking about it, Phil Spector produced songs are still played (thank God). I guess it's easier when it's a different face or voice. The DJ doesn't have to say 'And that was River Deep, Mountain High' produced by the murderer Phil Spector'

I was gonna say they're amongst the worst tracks on each of the albums they're on..
And yeah, I noticed that when Phil Spector died The Beatles' social media didn't say a single word about him. I searched MJ's name on Twitter twice in the last 48 hours and I haven't seen anyone bring up R Kelly so you're right that it definitely helps when they're not on the face of it.

Gary Glitter is still on Spotify, so he ain't going nowhere I'd say.
I'm more worried about the effect this news will have on the legacy of the Batman & Robin movie.

Seems MJ fans got that Telegraph guy rattled: And why doesn't he then write about those things rather than celebrities? Also, not treating someone who was acquitted by court as if he's the same thing as someone who's been just convicted would be a part of respecting human rights (presumption of innocence and all that silly stuff that's the basis of a legal system that's rooted in human rights). Not to mention, people are able to pay attention to more than one thing.

You'd think the Aaliyah thing, especially as it was so well known about, would have destroyed his career before it even started. In an ideal world full of moral people, it would have... but instead he became one of the biggest musicians on the planet, which enabled him to do it to even more people, even though what he was like was clearly well known about.

Well today Radio 2 is playing the Top 20 from now in 1995. They never play the whole thing but it's unusual for them not to play the whole Top 5.
Anyway, YANA was at number 4 and they didn't play it.
Nothing to do with it being MJ, they always play him if he's featured.
