In light of R Kelly's recent conviction, does it change how you feel listening to the R Kelly penned MJ songs?
Thought it'd be interesting to see what the consensus is. For me personally, I actually really like all 3 of these songs, I know they aren't too popular within the fanbase, but I've always enjoyed them. I don't think I could give them up. I think the fact that they are sung by MJ is distance enough for me to feel like I'm not listening to R Kelly. There is the moral dilemma, of knowing that you are helping a convicted felon to earn money, but he's behind bars now anyway, so I can live with that.

Luckily I never listen to them anyway unless I play HIstory in full.
But if Kelly had for example written any great tracks like SIM or MITM, I don't think I'd deny myself the pleasure of listening.

Of course. It wasn't the music notes and chord progressions that committed the crimes.
Plus, I know next to nothing about Rod Temperton, Glenn Ballard, Carole Bayer Sager and the five hundred songwriters on Invincible, they could be terrible human beings in their personal lives for all I know. It has absolutely no baring on my enjoyment of the art they helped to create.

He's already serving his sentence for his crimes. It's not my place or job to enforce punishment on R Kelly. The whole cancel culture phenomenon and "seperating the artist from the art" discussion smacks of self-righteousness and virtue signalling to me. Mind your own business, live your life right and stop using other peoples shortcomings to make yourself feel superior.

I wish he'd have written Don't Walk Away. Then I'd have another excuse to skip.

What difference does it make if he's locked up? He still has two more criminal trials to go through. The combined sentences from all his trials will keep him away from the public for the rest of his life. He'll be in a position where he can no longer hurt people. All of his future income will likely be distributed to his victims following inevitable civil lawsuits, so I don't think there's a financial issue.

i'm kind of glad that i don't like any these songs expect one more chance. it's isn't Michael fault he feature someone who was an pedophile behind closed doors. he didn't know.
if he was alive he would be very disguised it. let's be honest you are not alone kind of an fail in my opinion because one him and Lisa marriage didn't last and two r. kelly is pedophile.
at the end of the day Michael didn't know the future of those songs and people. that's one of the risks you take when you work with someone or get in an relationship etc.

Yes Iโll still play them, he was a gifted songwriter but I donโt play his songs anymore and got rid of his CD years ago. What a shame he threw it all out the window
