I think about this a lot, and the same three things come up each time, albeit in different order. I think for the most part, I normally opt for Live Aid at Wembley. To see Queen, Bowie, U2, McCartney all on that historic day would have have peak concert.
But, I flip flop to Motown 25 quite often. Obviously Michael Jackson and the Jacksons, but imagine seeing them along with Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross and the Supremes (well...) Smokey Robinson, The Four Tops vs The Temptations just to start.
My other choice is The Last Waltz, The Band's "final show", with guests Bob Dylan, Muddy Waters, Neil Young, Emmylou Harris, Eric Clapton, Dr John, Ronnie Hawkins, Van Morrison. Pretty much my favourite concert film of all time, by a country mile actually. It's got a bit of a dodgy reputation in a similar veign to Motown 25 among fans of The Band (The Funk Brothers, Flo Bollard ignored at M25, Last Waltz being known for Robbie Robertson eternally "screwing over" his band mates. Then again, there's a serious lack of black artists at Live Aid too, and lots of massive omissions (where was Stevie, Prince, MJ etc. I refuse to believe MJ would turn down something like this just because of Captain Eo. Hell, where was Bruce!?)
Anyways, what shows are we going to?

Prince / The Time 1999 tour (1982)
Tori Amos Plugged tour (1998)
In terms of MJ, if I could choose one tour, I would probably go for Triumph. To see him before he became a stadium act, in the peak of his raw talent as a vocalist, to see stuff like DSTYGE and Walk Right Now live etc. The precious little footage we've seen from that tour looks incredible.
Black Sabbath with Dio, preferrably in 1993 after the amazing Dehumanizer album.

Blondie Madison Square Garden 1999 reunion tour Not gonna lie, blown away by this response. Their Live album from that tour is one of the first live albums I ever fell in love with. The setlist is insane, from Screaming Skin, Atomic, Under The Gun, Maria, Shayla, Rapture. Ah man, absolutely brilliant choice. I think Detroit '82 has become my most listened to live album in the past 2 years. Everything about the tour is perfect. The look, the sound, the stage, the set. I do love lisa, but the band were just so so tight here. I've a few great sounding boots from the Tour and I love them all. Head is a particular favourite, and the Controversy intro with a kind of Blade Runner feel? Magneto_Perfection.gif

[/quote] I grew up on Blondie, my dear late mom was a groupie back in the 70s and used to follow them around all the time. She had some amazing stories to tell about that time. I was 19 at the time of their reunion and desperate to see it. My mom brought tickets for us, but a few months before the gig she met my stepdad who warped her brain into becoming a fire and brimstone Christian zealot and convinced her pop concerts were a sin. He made her rip up the tickets and we couldnt go. 😡

I remember listening to Livid all the way to Vickar Street in Dublin to see them on the '03 Phasm 8 tour for The Curse of Blondie. I was hoping they'd do Screaming Skin. Blondie were the first "uncool" band I got really into when I was 16 and will always be a favourite. I'm hoping to get to see them in the UK next year. But that '99 Tour... I only realised this year that the Live DVD is different to the live album. Such a fantastic Tour. 22 years ago!

I think I've been lucky enough to see most of my favourites live a number of times (MJ, Madonna, Stevie, George, Prince, Janet, Suede, Oasis, Fratellis, Killers, RHCP etc)
As much as I love seeing Queen with Adam Lambert, I'd obviously love to have seen Freddie, so live at Elland Road in 86 would have been amazing.
I wish I'd have got to Blur in Hyde Park on their reunion tours when they did every single. The Live Album is superb.

The most important tour of my life from day one, Michael Jackson’s Bad Tour 87, 88, 89 would be the main one.
Others I’d enjoy: Elvis’ entire 1970 run at the International Hotel in Vegas that gave us the wonderful That’s The Way It Is film/album/boxset. Kate Bush’s Tour of Life in 1979 The Jackson’s North American leg of the Destiny Tour in 79 with the better setlist The Jackson’s Triumph Tour in 81, Victory Tour in 84 Janet’s Rhythm Nation Tour 1990 Janet Tour 93, 94, 95 Michael Jackson Dangerous Tour first leg 92 Any of Prince’s 80’s and 90’s shows Madonna’s Blonde Ambition Tour 1990

I didn't become an MJ fan until the early 00s so am very jealous of anyone who has seen MJ perform live in the 80s and 90s.
