He calls himself a George Michael fan, but completely disregards this fantastic album: There's so many beautiful tracks on this album. My Mother Had A Brother is career best stuff, such a heartbreaking story and sung with so much passion. Round Here is a contemplative story reminiscing of his upbringing and has a great groove. John & Elvis Are Dead, Precious Box, Freeek 04, Please Send Me Someone To Love are all excellent tracks, as well as Amazing, which was a great single. I think Tony should be publicly shamed for not having given this album it's proper dues.

Another latter day GM song which deserves more love: Was this the song he performed at the Olympics opening ceremony and got slagged off for performing new material instead of a crowd-pleaser? It's really a cracking tune. Very poignant lyrically when you consider what was just around the corner for him.

That's the only thing about me that bothers you? I'm not doing my job properly.

It pales in comparison to that. And he wanted to do it as a tribute to the NHS that saved his life. But sort of agree it's not the place for a new song. Looks like self promotion. Reminds me of when Adam Ant did the same at Live Aid. Think he did Vive La Rock when the crowd wanted Stand and Deliver or Prince Charming.

Amazing is quite a light track for a lead single. A lot of people criticise GM for making Dinner Party music and this album really smacks of that. Anyways I saw him live twice so meh.

I'm a big fan of everything George has done, including Patience. The man had a great ear and all his solo albums were magic for me. Maybe TonyR should give Patience another chance?

Yeah but that doesn't suit the joke. Anyway, would you both agree though that even if the album is good, it's easily the least of his 4 proper studio albums?

Older 5. Songs From The Last Century ^^ Although tbh, I love all of them. I do love Older, but there's more variety on Patience. Older is very sombre in places and is the kind of album I have to be in the mood for, whereas I can stick the other 3 on any time.

Older's upbeat songs like Fastlove and Spinning The Wheel and Star People are career best. Fastlove and Star People are much better on the Unplugged though.

I dunno, stuff like Jesus To A Child and You Have Been Loved is pretty heavy. There's more upbeat stuff on Patience, like Amazing, Flawless, Freeek 04. And a lot of the midtempo tracks have a breezy, summary feel like Round Here and Please Send Me Someone. It's definitely a lighter listen than Older, which I've always seen as quite a dark, introspective record.

Tbh, I don't know Faith and LWP beyond the hits. I have heard them before but only really paid attention to the singles I already knew. I know both Older and Patience as entire albums and dig them both. Very different albums with different moods. Not everything has to be pitted against the best, I try to just enjoy a piece of work for what it is.
