Love me some Elton
Like most of his 70s and 80s output, not so crazy about 90s past 1995's Believe. Have seen one concer of his from 2008 in which he had his 70s band and he played most crowd pleasing favourites. Not bad but not worth the nearly $400 we paid for the tickets.
I think as a person though, he is a complete diva and prima donna and I don't like bratty camp behaviour.
Albums and songs I like
1. Elton John - 1970 the quality of this early album is amazing and he sings with such warmth in every song, a hippy classic. 2. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road 1973 - Near perfect mid 70s album, every song is great. 3. 2 low 4 Zero - 1983 - Elton's attempt at Princebonics works well, this is a meticulous album, Cold as Christmas, Crystal, I guess that why they call it the blues 4. The One 1992 - A great album and a perfect coming out album, yet the tracks "When a woman dosen't want you" and "Understanding women" seems out of place given his newly declared sexual preferences.
Songs - No order
1. Take me to the pilot 2. Border Song 3. When I'm 64 4. Tiny Dancer 5. levon 6. Rocket Man 7. Daniel 8. Crocodile Rock 9. Honky Cat 10. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road 11. Funeral for a friend (Love lies bleeding) 12. Grey Seal (1970 and 1973 versions) 13. I've seen that movie too 14. Jamaica Jerk Off 15. Don't let the sung go down on me 16. Whatever gets you through the night 17. Philadelphia Freedom 18. Someone saved my life tonight 19. The Bitch is back 20. Don't go breaking my heart (Either with Kiki Dee or Miss Piggy) 21. Island Girl 22. Song for Guy 23. Part time love 24. Little Jeannie 25. Empty Garden (Hey Hey Johnny) 26. Blue Eyes 27. Cold as Christmas 28. Crystal (Song about alleged gay lover Gary from Australia who was a pilot) 29. I guess thats why they call it the blues 30. I'm still standing 31. Passengers 32. Nikita 33. Act of War 34. That's what friends are for 35. Slow Rivers (W Cliff Richard) 36. Heartache all over the world 37. I don't wanna go on with you like that 38. Healing Hands 39. Sacrifice 40. The One 41. Last Song (Father to son) 42. Believe 43. Can you feel the love tonight 44. This train don't stop here anymore. 45. Circle of life. 46. Sorry seems to be the hardest word (1976 and 2002 with Blue).
As you can see after Bowie he is my favourite British artist and in my Top 10 of all artists.

In terms of albums, the only one I own and have heard from beginning to end is Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, which is quintessential 70s piano-rock. Funeral For A Friend is one of my favourite instrumental tracks of all time.
I also liked the song Electricity from one of his more recent albums. And he did quite a good duet on Kate Bush's last album called "Snowed In At Wheeler Street."

I really need to listen to his discography. I absolutely love the songs most have heard of and I love his voice. For me one of the best vocalists ever.
That's Why They Call It The Blues. Circle Of Life. Nikita. Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me (with George Michael). Kiss The Bride. Don't Go Breaking My Heart. Can You Feel The Love Tonight. Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word.

Totally agree, Funeral for a Friend is just awesome, it builds and builds and then there is teh crescendo, a song that takes you along. Possibly his finest piece of music ever with perfect Bernie Taupin lyrics.
