Waking up to news of the Ukraine being bombed and allegedly hundreds dead - it's a dark day for humanity.

He's a madman.
I wonder what's next for the West? Obviously threatening with sanctions doesn't work, but I doubt any Western country is willing to go into an open war with Russia. Putin threatened with what would basically mean WW3 if anyone interfered.
I'm also sure China is watching. I wonder if they will use the opportunity to invade Taiwan...

He's just like that 3 year old kid you have to keep your eyes on, because he keeps reaching for the bloody chocolate bar he's been told numerous times is not his, and despite everyone raising their finger and going "No!", the bastard just keeps testing everyone's patience and reaches for it.
I've seen social media posts over the last few weeks from people in the Ukraine and I cannot even imagine how horrifying it is for them right now. Thousands of innocent Ukrainian people are going to die, millions more will have their lives torn apart. All because this madman cares more about land and money over human life. He is despicable.

Putin threatened with what would basically mean WW3 if anyone interfered. It's terrifying. He's obviously playing right into the fact that the other big players would really prefer not to get involved out of fear of this escalating to an all-out Nuclear War. At the same time though, he knows that if he ever tries to escalate to something like that, then Russia is utterly done for as well.
We all are.
It's always a concept that's interested me. All these nations hold onto nuclear weapons so no-one uses it against them... and yet at the same time, no-one wants to use these weapons either because to do so means certain destruction for, well, all of the human race. Yet they still threaten with them...

Ukraine should never have listened to the West who told them they'll protect them if they give up their nuclear weapons.
The West showed its weakness the moment Russia annexed Crimea without any serious intervention from the West.
Little wonder the Russians have gone into Ukraine now. They wouldn't have done so had Ukraine ignored Western shite and kept their nuclear arsenal.
The West needs to commit boots on the ground. Sanctions aren't enough as Russia has built up an economic pillow to withstand it.

Russia are trying to invade Ukraine via five points around the east, including via Crimea into Odessa which is sea warfare.
Without Western boots on the ground, it's a matter of time until Russia breaks through Ukraine's Eastern defences.
Russia has the upper hand as it is not crippled by wokery nonsense whereas the West is weakened by it all.
Sometimes war is inevitable and boots on the ground is necessary....

It's less a fear of nuclear war and more a fear of going toe to toe with the Russian military. During the Cold War, it was theorised in war games that European armies wouldn't even last a day against an invading Russian army. That's why the US Army, Navy and Airforce are important against the Russians. But together, we cannot take on Russia and China. The US being reluctant to engage militarily will ultimately signal the decline of American power. Permanently. Russia and, especially China, will emerge as the new dominant super power.

'Putin Threatens the West' sounds like a 90s Jim Carey film.

Putin chose this moment because he knows the West is just all huffing and puffing but won't do anything. In the US there's a growing sentiment both on the right and on the left that the US should mind its own domestic issues and stop spending so much money on being "the policeman of the world". But this will come with an inevitable decline (I would say also economically, not just militarily). Which is too bad for the world because Russia and China will come into the vacuum. And Europe in itself is weak, dependent on the US. I wonder if this will be a wakeup call for Europe to start spending more on defense again. Because obviously, we can't forever rely on the US. And I'm sure China is taking notes right now. If Russia can pull this shit without too serious consequences, they will be able to pull the same thing on Taiwan. And then there's Iran (also a Russia/China ally) developing nuclear arms with its religious fanatic leadership... Things aren't going in a good direction.

Putins on crack.going on about the ukraine being a fascist state. Pot kettle black comes to mind. What is it with small men and their inferiority complexes. The only people who can really put a stop to this is the Russian people.sanctions may push the population to protest more but considering half of london is owned by dodgy russians the uk is all frock but no knickers when it comes to that.the russian public need to get out on the streets and protest. But hes been facilitated by to many of them for to long ala 1930s germany.
We have a neighbour from the ukraine, his wife is russian. They went to the ukraine in the summer to see family and didnt come back. But they have left and gone to america where they have family.we thought he might have joined up!

WTF do they want in Tschernobyl? Ukraine has now lost control of Chernobyl. Its about time the West actually put a coherent military plan together NOW. Not in two months time.
