This could be great or very very half baked but it's great news nonetheless and our first physical release since Scream and first release since March 19 Can’t believe you’re forgetting the legendary 10th anniversary, limited-to-1000-copies This Is It boxset release that’s still available to purchase 😜 But yeah, first wide release. I’m very mixed too. I should be happy. It’s new Michael after all (hopefully), but I am sick of it needing to be an anniversary to celebrate an older MJ release (or the apparent idea it needs to be, thinking of Bad 25, the apparently cancelled HIStory 25 project and now Thriller 40) and Thriller has already had an anniversary project. Plus my faith in their handling of it has pretty much blown over after seeing such an amateur logo. It’s legitimately the kind of logo I would design in Paint as a 13 year old and it’s embarrassing for an album of this legacy. I don’t really mean to be negative, but it’s honesty hard to be anything more than whelmed and I am very keen for them to prove me wrong. One good thing too is I think it’s now very reasonable to expect to see the Thriller-era videos in 4K on YouTube, perhaps released over the course of the year. I wonder why they are announcing it so early too. Assuming it’s coming out in October or November, It’s not typical for an album to be announced this early.

At least they keep the original font for these.

Once again the merch is... zero effort put into it.

Hopefully we get to hear the original Behind The Mask and get all those great 12" versions on streaming.

I think every legendary album gets re-released over and over again. Doesn't Dark Side of the Moon have an anniversary edition every 10 years? LOL. I think it's a good thing if one of the most legendary albums of all times gets a 40 year anniversary. Last time it had an anniversary release was 15 years ago. A little hype never harms. And if they had skipped it too, then that's why fans would complain.

I'll be curious to see what they include, hopefully the demos and bonus content are mixed and mastered properly and don't sound like total shit like they did on Xscape. Logo and merch are really bad. Estate needs to get someone who can actually design things to be their designer.

So not a nice big deluxe box set with care, love and effort put into it. Just the CD and an extra CD featuring fuck knows what on it. That design is absolutely horrible by the way. Did they even use a professional graphic designer to do it or has John Branca been learning Photoshop an decided to give it a go himself? How could anybody with functioning eyes sign off on that?
I expected half assed and that seems to be what we're getting. Low effort, half assed. That's the estate in a nutshell.

I've always had this thing in my head that makes me assume the same person who runs the twitter does the designs for everything else lol. Although it could just be that the estate pride themselves on keeping that shitty vibe across all products.

We have had all the Jacksons albums remastered and expanded in the past year, but what better way than to use Thriller to shift some audiophile vinyl, something they have not done before. They're finally getting theres a market for the non Tik Tok generation. I'll aim for the SACD myself.

I can't get over how bad the design is. It looks like a bootleg designed by a 12 year old.
A bare bones release with an extra disc. For the 40th anniversary of the biggest selling album of all time.

Yes! I'm so happy!
I have the Thriller Half-Speed Mastered Vinyl and can't believe mofi is making a release and actually going back to the analog tapes.
The SACD from 2005 is worth a fortune and I can finally get my hands on one.
Preordered both. Hopefully the estate has good mastering on the CDs too. Love the use of the old disc labeling from the 80s.
This is great! So happy to finally have a new MJ release.

Predictable and I can't get excited or anything. Not when I've God knows how many different copies already.
