I will withhold full judgement (and any potential pre-orders) until all the tracks are revealed.

I completely understand your frustration with them. I’m happy enough with a disc of unreleased tracks but there always seems to be an element of amateur hour about their approach. It can all feel very kiddie compared to other legacy artists. Beatles fans will be getting a Revolver Deluxe boxset with everything, and MJ fans will be getting a once a week reveal of10 tracks that suggests they don’t even know themselves what their including. Why can they not just bring on board an MJ historian who’s a mega fan and knows what the fans want. I am super excited for the Revolver stereo remix using Peter Jackson's AI technology. Let's just turn this into a revolver thread lol I can’t believe a fifth Beatles deluxe boxset is about to get released in as many years and also the Get Back Disney Plus release as well as the Blu-ray and book. And then there’s been the Lennon, McCartney and Harrison releases also. Staggering.

Yeeeeah. When I heard the news of the Revolver box set the other day, my hype for it just immediately skyrocketed past whatever I had for Thriller 40. That is a release I’m going to be counting down the days to. I guess it’s no surprise though when one considers the drastic difference in the handling of the legacy’s for these two legendary acts. But in saying this, I recognise that this means within the space of a month or so, I’ll get to hear new material from BOTH of my top two most favourite artists of all time! And honestly, that’s just pretty fucking cool.
I find their unveiling of the track list to be so weird though. A track a week? I think a track a day would actually be pretty cool, a good way to create discussion in the fandom and draw it out a bit but a week is pushing it.

Unless most of the tracklist is unheard and is some cool stuff, we have already heard pretty much everything they're going to include. So it'll most likely just a be a countdown with them revealing stuff we already know is on there. Just seems rather pointless as a thing targeted towards hardcore fans only.

To be fair, it's more fun and different than chalk is.

It's just dawned on me - how good can a documentary on Thriller be without Quincy Jones? The relationship between him and the Estate is pretty septic (and his opinion of MJ has soured since 2001) but still it's fair to say this album would NEVER have been as good as it is without him. It's made from his DNA, and even though all his trademark sounds and production style is all over this album, him and MJ made absolute magic with this one. He was to MJ what George Martin was to the Beatles. Hopefully they will at least use archive footage like Bad 25. But we all know Quincy considered Thriller to be the Magnus Opus IMO his relationship with MJ. It's a shame for all if us that things turned out like they did.
Edit - I realise he wasn't involved in Bad 25, but I was really hoping for a change in attitude from either side in 10 years. Shame. Quincy seems like a dick. The Estate operate like dicks. Perfect storm.

Some of the "bonus material / tracks" (as they word it) might be just those short interview clips with Quincy etc that some previous Thriller Anniversary release had.
If we really get 2-3 unheard songs, we're lucky. Fingers crossed for Behind The Mask original.

Nite Line and Hot Street have yet to be taken down like Starlight, Behind The Mask and Trouble on YouTube. Unless they are working very slow, could suggest that they are not on Thriller 40. I think they are shoe-ins though.

So now we know what they meant when they said there was “plenty of surprises to come throughout the year” or words to that effect. I mean to stretch the track unveiling to two and a half months is such a watered down way to fill the year with surprises LMAO.

When he said “I lost my heart on the carousel” what he meant was was that the carousel was going too fast for him.
