Just got the email that my mofi vinyl is delayed. Nice to know the estate started doing literally everything to do with this release a day before they announced it was a thing. Same. If things were straightforward it would be very strange at this point. 😂

Instant dip in audio presentation on Carousel, and further again on Behind The Mask. Complete lack of mastering. And It’s nothing to do with the fact that Behind The Mask is quite a rough demo. The EQ’s and volume levels all sound different from Who Do You Know, Carousel and Behind The Mask. There’s no mixing done either which further highlights the massive difference in quality between tracks.

Can’t Get Outta The Rain is completely brick walled to the point where the distortion almost sounds like it’s an instrument.

Onto The Toy now. Someone mentioned the 808? Well I love an 808 beat but this is way to high in the mix making it sound separate from the track and jarring. Would have benefited massively had it been brought down ever so slightly in the mix, but quite clearly there’s zero mixing anywhere. Ha. MJ’s vocals are lovely and I quite like the track.

What A Lovely Way To Go. Anyone else hearing a Christopher Cross’ Arthur’s Theme vibe? Very similar piano progression which the track seems to be built on. Quite barebones but quite nice.
Just googled Arthur’s Theme and it was released in 81 so I’m wondering if MJ took the piano hook and built the idea around it. I could see him being quite taken by Arthur’s Theme. And the movie given his mate Liza is in it.

I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt here but of the Off The Wall tracks I’m in no doubt. Overall I enjoyed the 10 tracks back to back. I found it a really breezy and fun listen through. Musically speaking. The lack of mixing and mastering is what it is. What can one say at this point other than repeat the same old frustrations. I feel overall the EQ’s could have been raised slightly to add a little brightness. Some of the demos and rare tracks sounded quite muddy. Can’t Get Outta The Rain was especially jarring on my headphones.

The MoFi was announced some time during the spring if I remember correctly.

On the other hand, it seem some did receive the SACD already (eg. the person Innuendo141 quoted). But most people get "delayed" messages from their retailers. Could it be that there's more demand than what they anticipated and there are simply not as many manufactured yet?

Thriller 4k is so awesome that for the first time ever you can see all the other faces in the cinema crystal clearly. I just discovered Bill Bray in the last row. LOL. (It's actually clearer in the video than my screenshot is.)
