This is a reply on the original post.
Personally, I find it more REASONABLE for a man without a childhood who'd been used by adults all his life would form friendships with Kids than believe a 26 y/o man would live with a 16 years old women and nothing would happen between them.
Having said that, I don't really care about Elvis and Precillia... Like... Most our grandmothers married young, But there is only one MJ.

Christ, everything in that video has literally been debunked! So has Vogel and I cannot find a single source for his cockney claim either. π€ Like I said, when the evidence is strong and debunks anything you believe, the mature thing to do is to change your opinion in accordance with the evidence.

Again, this has zero relevance to the actual history of the name "Jacko". You're trying to connect two different things that actually don't gel in the way you want them to. Are you seriously trying to say Edward W. Jacko, Jr. was...named after a monkey? That doesn't even make sense! But it shows you've not read a thing.

Yes, I think HIStoric said it perfectly. I don't think Jacko itself is racist but when we start saying articles that called him wacko jacko weren't trying to be negative I think we're stretching a little bit there. I don't think Innuendo was saying that, but it certainly didn't begin as a serious bit of negativity. It was originally a rhyme based on slightly odd behaviour from Michael which is borne out in the early appearances. After all, there is a history of the eccentric in the UK that isn't all that negative. But Wacko Jacko did eventually become very negative, yes. At the same time, its true that Jacko never became a racist term against anyone nor was it based on one particular animal. Wacko to mean crazy or nuts didn't originate in the UK either. The place of origin was New York State between two rival politicians in 1978. It took until 1984, I think, to become visible in the UK and somewhat entrenched from late 1980s. Before that, a Wacko was something in the ground that was eaten in Cornwall during St Michael's Feast. Had the Americans not popularised it, Wacko wouldn't have gone on to be used as a rhyme with Jacko. "Barmy" or "daft" would likely have been the prominent ones and these are not particularly vicious. Indeed, these examples from the New York Post demonstrates that the two were paired for the phonetic rhyme they create. At least you can see there's no racist backstory to any use of Jacko. After all, all evidence shows there's none.

Yes, that's how it started right across the British Isles and this is something that's easily forgotten. It's much easier to start with the present day and work backwards with hindsight, but this doesn't give an accurate impression or reflection of how language was actually used. We have to start from first principles rather than looking for confirmation of whatever bias we may have. Itβs much better than willfully continuing to misrepresent the culture of the British Isles in linguistic terms which Taj Jackson did once again about two weeks ago.

You're saying this guy, Moses Wearing was being racially abused in the US State of Florida for 103 years being called Jacko?! If so, that's completely ridiculous! I feel very sorry for people like you who choose to believe rubbish that has been shown to be false and then personally attack others based on a lie. It means you've lost the debate 100%. If I were you, I'd retract your post and apologise for your baseless libel. You run the risk of being sued putting rubbish like that online. That's a bit of friendly advice. Oh, and reported your post too.

I am locking this thread. NatureCriminal7896 I see no evidence of racism from pg13 in this thread. Please refrain from throwing around such defamatory words without any real basis. You can disagree with pg13 about this subject without resorting to calling him a racist, which there has been zero evidence of in this thread.
