My spouse is a mega Queen fan, like the way we all love MJ level only he no longer has his collection. I am thinking this year for his birthday I'll start buying/re-starting his collection. I know I can't just ask so I pay attention - he loves "Killer Queen", songs from the 70s & 80s (and every song from the Bohemian Rhapsody film he knew by heart). I admit I'm not a Queen expert by any stretch so... Where to start? Sheer Heart Attack I'm thinking and Night At The Opera. I'm unsure on if I should buy one of those ultimate Queen collections as I know it'd be like an MJ fan getting Number Ones. Or is it, Queen fans? He has real sentimental value to these older albums, not only the hits; trying to do my best here thanks everyone!

Those are the real first glimpses of just how great they can be. Queen II is a great rock album and Sheer is their first dip into a more pop sound on some songs. I'd def recommend going album by album and not go with a compilation, but The Platinum Collection is widely regarded as one of the best collections of all time. If collecting 1 by 1 though, I jumped around from era to era to mix it up. Hard to remember a time before I had all the albums but I'd go with those 2 first! The March of the Black Queen on Queen II is their first "jesus christ" moment.

This is extremely useful

Agree with the other post, but also Night At The Opera for me.
It was the point where I found out that Queen were much more than the radio friendly pop rock of Radio Gaga and I Want To Break Free.

Would you suggest Night At The Opera over Queen II? He's certainly more into the rock but also different than the radio hits, I know that for sure.

I'd say Opera but Nigel would say QII. If that's any help!
