Really hyped for this! Revolver is one of my favourite Beatles albums and ever since Variety broke the news and Giles confirmed it, I've honestly just had it on repeat. Happy to say this new mix of Taxman is going to be my de-facto now. It's a great balance, a definite improvement over the original and I just love how much more Paul's bass now digs itself right in.
I'm so glad technology is finally letting us pull-apart the earlier Beatles albums to give them far better stereo mixes - and it sounds like we're probably going to get Rubber Soul next year too (another album I've actually had on repeat this last week or so!). I heard an AI-isolated track of George Harrison on... I think She Loves You? exhibited at Abbey Road about 5 years ago and I remember just sitting there, stunned that I was hearing this isolated track that no-one had heard since the early 60s. And to think the technology has only become much more superior since then too! The early Beatlemania-era albums will surely be a treat.
If I had to give a criticism of any kind, I do kind of wish the artwork on Spotify had a darker border and maybe different font but that's just me being pedantic. On the whole, very happy!

Rubber Soul! Arguably my favourite Beatles album! An absolute masterpiece! ๐๐๐ป If I Needed Someone has done a very good job at refusing to leave my head the last few days! I just love the melody in that one, every time it pops on I grin like an idiot.

I like that Giles brought up that some of the songs still have strange panning, because of the way they were recorded with mono in mind there wasn't really enough instrumentally to do a "modern" stereo mix in his opinion.

Always thought Revolver was the album that needed a remix the most of all the stereo ones, and I'm excited after hearing Taxman as someone who will only listen to the mono. Will be great to have an alt version to replace the 2009 CD

I get shivers listening to their vocals blend so gawd damn well.

The Beatles harmonising together is one of my most favourite sounds in the world

Iโm delighted but I canโt keep up with The Beatles recently. I guess thatโs a nice position to be in.

Iโm delighted but I canโt keep up with The Beatles recently. I guess thatโs a nice position to be in. It's been a really fantastic 5+ years to be a Beatles fan, honestly. I was just thinking about how for every year (bar 2020 for obvious reasons), we've received a new boxset celebrating an album from them. The fact it's only been a year-ish between each one is helping highlight just how quickly they were releasing albums back then, since it's kind of replicating the timeline for how quickly these things have been coming out. And what's crazy is that sometimes it's taken even less than what these boxsets are taking!
It absolutely boggles my mind to think they put out Rubber Soul one year, Revolver the next, Sgt. Peppers and Magical Mystery Tour the year after (when that boxset coming?), then White Album, then Abbey Road and finally Let It Be. Not only the pace at which they put these out, but just how quickly and significantly they grew as artists is something to really behold.
I will say, I'm actually glad they finished on a peak and didn't drag the band out longer than it should've. Someone on the Beatles subreddit made a hypothetical album cover showing the lamest thing that could happen if they were going or reuniting in the 80s, and I just... no ๐
