Iโm delighted but I canโt keep up with The Beatles recently. I guess thatโs a nice position to be in. It's been a really fantastic 5+ years to be a Beatles fan, honestly. I was just thinking about how for every year (bar 2020 for obvious reasons), we've received a new boxset celebrating an album from them. The fact it's only been a year-ish between each one is helping highlight just how quickly they were releasing albums back then, since it's kind of replicating the timeline for how quickly these things have been coming out. And what's crazy is that sometimes it's taken even less than what these boxsets are taking!
It absolutely boggles my mind to think they put out Rubber Soul one year, Revolver the next, Sgt. Peppers and Magical Mystery Tour the year after (when that boxset coming?), then White Album, then Abbey Road and finally Let It Be. Not only the pace at which they put these out, but just how quickly and significantly they grew as artists is something to really behold.
I will say, I'm actually glad they finished on a peak and didn't drag the band out longer than it should've. Someone on the Beatles subreddit made a hypothetical album cover showing the lamest thing that could happen if they were going or reuniting in the 80s, and I just... no ๐ That cover! ๐๐คฃ Yes, the fact that they finished on a peak really worked in their favour and Lennonโs tragic death meaning they could never reform made them mythical. I even love the early stuff. Itโs a perfect run of albums and an incredible evolution.

I don't think we have a dedicated Beatles thread (I know we have a pretty good Macca one) but I sure do hope Ringo's okay
Normally I don't fret about someone getting COVID but the man is 82 after all. Still, he seems to be in very good shape for an 82 year old so fingers crossed he's okay ๐ค๐ค
Get well soon Ringo!

Yeah I've been quietly worried about this. Sending him Peace and Love.

Really loving the new mix! I've been playing this album all week and I've really grown to it. As with every remixed album, there's always one or two little tidbits I would change if I was doing it, but on the whole these are definitely an improvement over the original mixes.
What I really love about this boxset too is how this album was super revolutionary for 1966, and in carrying on that tradition, they utilized arguably the most innovative AI technology for demixing in the world to separate the bounced-down stems for this album. Literally only Peter Jackson's company has access to this proprietary technology and they've only allowed it's use so far on the Get Back documentary series and this Revolver boxset. And while other companies are working on AI demixing to varying results, there's really none who have got it to the level that Peter Jackson have. Abbey Road Studios has been working on it for yeeears (I heard a demixed track of GH's guitar from... She Loves You(?) a few years back that was played at a lecture and recorded on someones phone) and Giles Martin and co. said that Peter Jackson's company was just leaps beyond. On a personal level, sometimes I will use websites that let you upload an MP3 so I can get an AI-demixed multitracks of songs I enjoy - it's rough but it's perfectly good for listening back. But yeah, I just think it's so cool how in that regard, The Beatles are pushing the boundaries yet again by using the absolute best technology. And the technology is only going to get better, so imagine what'll be down the road!
As for the outtakes, I love the more upbeat Take 5 of I'm Only Sleeping, and what about that actual speed take of Rain!!!! Holy moly. Glad they gave a new mix of Rain too, that'll be my go-to. I prefer the 2015 mix of Paperback Writer though.
So yeah, I'm happy on the whole. My uncle wishes the bass on the rest of the album was closer to the levels of Taxman though (hard to blame him, I do love me some bass)

Giles demonstrates some demixed tracks from Here, There and Everywhere! The clarity on these demixed tracks is incredible.

Wow that's amazing. I knew from Get Back that the tech was good but didn't think it would sound that clear when totally isolated.
