Luckily Prince Charles or should I say King Charles III is immense. Nothing but respect for him. His work on the Prince's Trust has changed thousands of lives for the better.
Hope we have him for a long time.

Hate me if you want, but I don’t really care. She lived a full life and it wasn’t a tragic and unjust death like Diana or MJ to feel sad over, but people are already saying it’s going to be one of the most talked about funerals. It’s hard to get away from, and it’s reminding me of how mj was everywhere and is a bit triggering, so forgive me for my pessimism and coming off as a “tosser”

Is that Brit slang? It's sad when anyone dies, but she was 96 and lived a life of luxury. It's not exactly a tragedy like Diana, who, to be perfectly honest, was much more likeable than the Queen. The Queen is living proof that if you just stick around long enough, people will love you. She never actually came across as a particularly warm or caring person and by all accounts, routinely and willingly neglected her own children for the Crown. People talk about the sacrifices she made as if it's to be commended, but is putting your children second to your job really all that admirable? The British royals seem like one of the most over-indulged, dysfunctional families in the world. I really don't get you Brits and your adoration of this crap.

If people are unbothered by this, why say anything at all?
I'll never understand people.

Yes it’s British slang, I get it, but feel it’s ok to be indifferent and not be afraid to discuss that even if it makes you unpopular.

It's more the fact the Queen has been the unifying focal point for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland as well as her other Realms and Territories for 70 years. Our National Rock. Her death and passing on of the throne signifies the end of an era for the UK especially as well as other countries where she's been Head Of State. It's a very significant part of British and world history.

This isn't the time - at least wait until after the State Funeral. This thread isn’t the place either.

Michael and his brothers met the Queen - twice at the Royal Variety Show, IIRC. Michael included the 1940 "Greetings to the Children of England" radio address by Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret in his song, HIStory.

You’re American and completely removed from British culture and the Commonwealth realm and all it entails. Exactly why the Queen is so beloved is lost in translation to you as is the politics and history of the Royal Family and the empire. The Queen carried herself with dignity and dedicated her life to a service of duty. If you truly knew the history of the Queen’s life perhaps you would feel different. If you truly knew the history of the Queen’s life and grew up over here you most certainly would. You’ve got the Queen all wrong and misunderstood. I wouldn’t necessarily call her life a life of luxury either. Unless you believe a life of service and work that would put most 20 year olds to shame to be one of luxury?

Its mad how much will be affected by her death. Money, stamps, post boxes etc. The ripples go really far.
Her trip to Ireland was absolutely monumental. Given the troubled and violent history between Ireland and the UK, hearing the Queen open her speech in Irish - dressed in green - was an historic moment that really showed how far we had come. She didnt have to come here amidst what I believe were multiple foiled plans to have her killed here. That's what I'll remember her for.

It seems UK people in general don't have the anti royalist sentiment as Spaniards have for their monarchy, seeing them as parasites. Interesting to read.

It's pretty easy to call people who don't agree with your idolisation of a Monarch a tosser. It's pretty common and also happened when Phillip died. If you're not crying over it or saying they were a great person, wishing them massive respects and RIP then you should just shut up I guess.
